Lara, who has made it clear on several occasions that he's more than willing to step up and face the hard-hitting Golovkin, was unimpressed with the fight announcement. "As far as I'm concerned, Canelo and Triple G are twin brothers," Lara explained during a brief conversation with FightHype.com. He added, "Typical business first and not old school throwback fighters."

So PBCs house promoter DiBella, basically the face of Haymon (next to Sam Watson) says Lara won't happen because of TV problems, but the GGG haters insist on it? Jeez..

SMW isn't much better in competition and offers mediocre interest. So why shouldn't GGG target and seek out the lower "better competition" class of welter weights, and purge the system to force the real fights that should be taking place by 'vacater' middle weights that cry they are true ww's/sww's that show up fight night nearly 20 lbs heavier after the official weigh in. The scent of mexican chicken is strong with Saul!!!!!

Actually, I'd think GGG might be in worse position to secure that last belt if Canelo does win...
Canelo might play keep away with the WBO belt... Without GGG as the mando, who know how long it would take to get Alvarez in the ring with him ???

I'd actually assume Triple G would be better off if Saunders and Canelo didn't fight at all...
But there's definitely money in that matchup.... BJS would be well served to take that fight if presented... IMO...

Regardless, it would be nice to see Canelo & GGG lace them up in the fall of 2017...

The real question should be: is Canelo willing to go after another 160 title? The second follow-up question should be: you sure?

Man you guys are fooled easily. Dibella was asked specifically about GGG-Lara and GGG-Jacobs, and said there were "TV problems." Translation Haymon don't want it, Lara may or may not want it but it's irrelevant because his manager doesn't, and all this is is free publicity for someone who just fought Vanes Martirosan.

                Check this out.....

We’ve always said that if there is a compelling fight, Gennady would move up or down, we’ve talked about moving up to 168 for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. because that would be a pay-per-view fight and if it’s Canelo, then I’m sure that we could work out a catchweight if he wanted to work out a catchweight and if it’s in his best interest. So that would certainly be a pay-per-view fight,” said Loeffler.

There wouldn’t be any issues for us to come down to fight Canelo. There would still be a title on the line for Gennady because he would be fighting under 160, so he would be able to defend the titles at 156 or whatever you have the weight be. But Gennady would be willing to come down in weight to fight Canelo. I wouldn’t say it would be at 154 but certainly, given that Canelo fought his last fight at 155, then you could say that Gennady would certainly be willing to come down in weight to make the Canelo fight.

                WTF ?

I know they have made that promise continually over the years, but I have never read it in black-n-white like that LMAO

How did that whopper turn into..... " 160, or no fight " ?

SMW is a deeper division with higher caliber fighters.

It is not one of the best divisions, but much better than middleweight.

                  1) because he criticised other fighters for "picking on" smaller opponents

                  2) because he criticised Canelo and called him a businessman only a couple of months ago for doing the exact same thing

                  3) because there are more challenging middleweights/JMW's available

                  4) because the fight is a mismatch

                  5) because Golovkin is being criticised for his opponent selection, so selecting a welter aint a good look

he should fight Saunders at 160 for NO title.....

..... and then after he beats Saunders, and Golovkin starts getting excited..... immediately drop back down to 154 and demand a catchweight AHAHAHHH
