“Obviously Showtime has supported the career of both of these men [Jacobs and Quillin] tonight, and I think they have the right to expect that they’ll continue to work with them,” DiBella said. “Obviously HBO’s been in the Golovkin business for a number of years now. But when a fight gets big enough, it tends to happen. Money talks.”
DiBella instead is eyeing Jacobs against the winner of the Dec. 19 title fight between Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders — and hoping the winner is Lee, who is signed with DiBella.
Meanwhile, if the Golovkin fight were to present itself for Lee, DiBella said he would be listening.
“This is a business. Nothing’s out of the question,” DiBella said. “I like Tom Loeffler [the executive at K2 Promotions, which has Golovkin]. He wants to call me, I’m going to take a call.”
