This is one of the mildest Sanchez interviews ever. He sounds intelligent and gives credit to Ward. Very strange.

He was seriously trying to lock in a 50/50 purse year or so in advance.

They don't want to watch Ward in a mega-fight with Kovalev because of the courage it would display on Andre Ward's part. The GGG fans know that they can't doubt whether he was serious about fighting GGG, when he accepts the challenge to fight the bigger fighter in Kovalev. As soon as Ward climbs throught those ropes, that argument is over! And GOD forbid that Ward actually wins the fight! OH NO! They're praying hard for that not to happen! The best thing they could hope for is for Ward to A) Not fight Kovalev at all, or B) Kovalev puts a beating on Ward, comes back to 168 as damage goods and fights GGG!
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Kovalev steps into ring at 186. Ward maybe a few pounds shy--we don't know he hides his fight weight.

Ward campaigned in amatuers at 178. He competed at LHW in the olympics. He's not small. He and Hunter think he'll some day fight HW champs. That tells you all you need to know about Ward supposedly fighting the bigger Kov.

And I was a big fan of Froch, btw.
Did Froch even win one round??? He looked like an amateur against a pro. And the very next fight Froch knocked Bute out...

Sanchez has trained some very good fighters, and other champions.

That said, I agree with Sanchez assessment. I think Andre can beat him, but I think Sergey will win due to Wards inactivity over the last few years and I dont think hes acclimated to 175 yet. Its a great fight that I hope we get to see. Neither one of those men is the chicken shiz like Saul Alvarez.
You don't think Andre Ward is acclimated to 175 yet you want Canelo, who hasn't acclimated to 160 or had any fights there, to immediately fight GGG. You make no sense.

Froch won 5 rounds on 2 of the judges scorecards. If he'd won one more round the result would have been a majority draw. He won the last 2 rounds and was coming on strong with Ward tiring. If it had been a 15 round fight, Froch would have won it.

And Froch KO'ing Bute doesn't alter the fact that Bute was an undefeated world champion in the same division as Ward and Ward refused to fight him, so saying he cleared out the division is just not true.

Another numbskull who thinks that 155 is a legit division!

There's a big difference between Wards inactivity and Canelo choosing to fight at 155. There's also the fact that Canelo agreed to fight Golovkin after the Cotto fight and was given the opportunity to fight at 160. Instead he chose to fight Khan at 155. Canelo having no experience at160 is his own choosing. Ward, on the other hand, when given the opportunity to fight at 175, actually fought at 175 against a 175 lber.

I don't think either of them are ready for What they both signed up for, but they both signed up. So far, it looks like only one of them will be the man they say they are.
