And haymon keeps paying after he gets sued or a promoter says the fighter is still under contract despite haymon and his fighter saying otherwise. Like I said arum is not man who stays quiet and he screamed and bragged the days after Chavez was released that he GOT PAID. Haymon cut a check. And arum let the world know. Lets see how long before arum makes it known just how much garcia/haymon paid.

Quite the opposite. Take JCCJr for example. If he didn't settle with Chavez, he wouldn't have gotten anything because JCCJr wouldn't have fought anymore, meaning TR can't make money off his fights. By settling, Arum got money that he otherwise wouldn't have gotten. If the contract was valid he could've taking Mikey to court. Got the decision and Mikey would've been responsible for court costs and Top Ranks lawyers. Mikey would have no choice but to fight to pay off his debts. Funny ow everyone that challenges Bob's contracts end up settling for a buyout. You don't find it strange that Bob would rather settle than go to court? He allowed Floyd and Oscar, the two highest earners ever, to settle rather than take it to court. He lost hundreds of millions from those two leaving him but he settled for a couple hundred thousand because he knows he wouldn't win in court.
The past 2 years, Arum hasn't made a dime off of Mikey. Winning in court doesn't change that. It validates what Arum says about the contract being valid but Mikey still wouldn't have fought anyway and would have continued just sitting out until he got what he wanted.Comment

Exactly. Laughing at anyone who thinks arum just woke up and felt like doing Mikey a solid and just released him. This is what happens with lawsuits as the critical dates in court get near. One sides legal team works with the other side and number is reached. Arum got paid the only question is how much. Otherwise there is no reason arum wouldnt fight it until the judge forces him to release mikey.Last edited by bigdunny1; 04-07-2016, 10:39 PM.Comment

You are absolutely wrong about this. Arum would have not let Garcia fight until t he end of his contract and then leave (and that is based on the assumption that the contract had not already ended as Garcia says). He would have put Garcia in garbage fights that paid him peanuts until the contract was near the end. Then, he would have offered Garcia a major fight (with major money) with someone like Pacquaio or Crawsford, but only if Garcia agreed to a two-year extension of his contract. That is how Arum operates.Of course it's wasting a career. All Mikey had to do was to finish a contract he signed (yes, I expect any person to honour contracts they sign) and could have gone to Haymon or Oscar or whoever at the end of 2014. Instead, he chose to wait 2 years (losing out on a few purses) to get in the same position he could have easily been in 1.5 years ago.Comment

I doubt that Arum was paid anything. Arum simply threw in the towel because he knew that he had no leg to stand on and could not win, just as was the case with Chavez Jr. If Arum was being paid off, he could have released Garcia two years ago.Exactly.
