Yea, because if TR settles, that means they must've been wrong, just like how wrong they were when they settled with Chavez.

But hey, you said "Deal with it" so it must be true!

Even Chavez former manager admitted this after arum gave the figures he was offered for both scenarios. Garcia had a path to free agency that wasn't the problem. He just wanted more money for his remaining fights while he was still under contract and refused to fight for that amount. No doubt if played out his deal he would of been a free agent much sooner and would not of given up millions along the way.
It was a 3 fight extension not 1. And Chavez Jr. ORIGINALLY agreed to fight for $7 million but he wouldn't sign the extension and Bob Arum changed it to $2 million.

Also how was Garcia still under contract??? You do know Garcia signed with Top Rank in 2006? His last fight for them was in 2014. You do the math! But that's PAST 7 years.

Another problem with the contract is they can't keep more then 33 1/3% of your gross ring earnings...Guess who wasn't telling who how much they were making off of them???

How do we know Mikey didn't settle because he thought he was going to lose in court? He sued arum so why is he dropping his lawsuit? haymon settled over the years paying promoters to end contract disputes that have gone to court. My guess is this is more of the same haymon is cutting a large check to arum to end this. Just like chavez. Arum didn't just release Garcia for nothing money changed hands otherwise arum fights it until a judge forces him to release garcia.

If the contract was valid he could've taking Mikey to court. Got the decision and Mikey would've been responsible for court costs and Top Ranks lawyers. Mikey would have no choice but to fight to pay off his debts. Funny ow everyone that challenges Bob's contracts end up settling for a buyout. You don't find it strange that Bob would rather settle than go to court? He allowed Floyd and Oscar, the two highest earners ever, to settle rather than take it to court. He lost hundreds of millions from those two leaving him but he settled for a couple hundred thousand because he knows he wouldn't win in court.

"There were multiple other offers by Top Rank, which always included extensions. The richest one was a $7 million guarantee with a one-fight extension for $10 million if he won and $5 million if he lost. Again, we accepted the fight but not the extension.
Bob then came back and offered us the standalone fight with no extensions for a $2 million guarantee."

                    - Chavez manager said that admitting he had 1 fight left on his deal and was offered 2 options a 1 fight extension for more money or fight his last fight for 2mil. Either case he had a path to free agency his beef was over the money and he wanted extension type money without signing an extension. What promoter would pay you the same bonus and money for 1 fight without a contract as he would for future fights?

Glad to see that Mikey Garcia is finally free of Top Rank. Mikey Garcia has one of the most complete boxing skills In the world today and is hopefully coming back with a bad intentions. It will be interesting to see who he signs with and who he is managed by.

If it's his brother Robert he might go the Golden Boy direction. Robert Garcia has sent a lot of young talent to Golden Boy and seems to have a good relationship with Oscar de la Hoya and crew.

But if he doesn't get managed by his brother I can see him signing up with Al Haymon or become Floyd Mayweathers first major signing.

Either way hopefully we see the return of Mikey Garcia by the summer time.
