Canelo wasn't that impressive vs Cotto, Trout, or Lara. Angulo and Kirkland were clearly shot and now he's fighting a blown-up Khan. Most exciting thing about Canelo is his red hair.

The WBC would have to strip Canelo if Golovkin insisted on fighting him this Sept and Canelo refused to do it. They have given K2 a contract guaranteeing that and awarded Golovkin their interim belt, which he's been paying them sanctioning fees for every fight since then, I presume.

But GGG was in the UK recently and BJS is now talking about fighting him this summer. It's possible Golovkin may give the Canelo showdown more time to marinate and opt for unification with Saunders first.

I think Lara/Jacobs would be a decent fight but a very tough sell. I would make it the undercard of Wilder/Povetkin or Wilder/Fury.
I would put it on the undercard of Danny Garcia vs. TBA, whenever that happens!

You are seriously under estimating what Canelo could offer and given it would be a PPV (plus any money from England).

You seriously think Canelo can't offer him $5 mil?

No, I think it needs a HWT fight lead in. WIlder is drawing the most fans right now. Put the fight on his undercard in Brooklyn and thats ok.

Hell, Wilder/Fury, Danny/TBA and this fight should be on the same card.

GGG should fight lara, gives him a common opponent with canelo plus lara being a respected boxer finally gives GGG a somewhat notable opponent.

No you don't. You "blame" him for not giving Andre Ward an excuse for hanging around at 172 for a couple more years instead of moving all the way up to 175 for Kovalev.

kirkland got $1.3m, lara got $1m, angulo got $850k. the $3.2m that K2 offered saunders largely would have had to come out of their own pockets and GGG's. they bid high out of necessity, basically. i don't see canelo and GBP taking a hit like that for BJS of all people

however, i could see BJS fighting alvarez for less than he would require to fight golovkin

At least at 155 Canelo can fight 154 and 160lbrs. And GGG can stick to fighting Peter Wade. A 30-1 Buster Douglas underdog. I can count easily 13-15 better MW's then him.. He soo fkn bad that NOBODY is RANKED #2. A nobody is RANKED higher than him...
I wish Jacobs would come out and say it! If Canelo can fight Khan, he can fight J-Rock, Charlo, and Jacobs! Let's get it!

I've heard it said that boxers don't fear each other. Clearly, that's not true. The truth is, if fighters in Golovkin's weight class are afraid to fight him at the proper weight, then they don't deserve to win or hold a championship belt in that division. you listening, Canelo? If GGG can't get big fights unless he disadvantages himself, then he will unify the MW division by default first. Afterwards, he should if he wishes, disadvantage himself by moving up or down, seek out these spineless cowards and kick their candy asses. Watch & see if he agrees to fight them on their terms, how many will line up to fight him. I bet it will still be very few.

Who's he chasing, besides fellow MW champ Alvarez? He wants to unify! Is he chosing shitty competition? Or is he fighting who's put in front of him, since better-ranked contenders are avoiding him? Ward needs to prove that he's able to live up to the mythical status he held 4 years ago. What better way to do that, than face a big name guy who's naturally smaller than him? People say that Canelo, who holds a belt in the same division as GGG, has the right to demand a CW, because he's the "A" side. Yet if Golovkin shows reluctance to throw the larger and of late underachieving Ward a bone, he's somehow at fault?
