Comments Thread For: Without Canelo, Golovkin has difficult path to big-fight stratosphere

Canelo just needs to man up and defend his title against Golovkin at 160 or just give it up. I'm not supporting anyone who just wants to hold the belt hostage because he's the "A-side". It's stuff like that is what's hurting the sport today.Comment

Awful position to be in for him especially coming to the table to negotiate with Canelo and Oscar. As Oscar suggested last week, that yeah negotiations will likely be difficult if Canelo thinks he is entitled to anything during negotions because he is really not. Canelo don't need him AT ALL. Worst Case Scenario is that Canelo drops that Belt and move down 1 lbs or he just drop that belt and continue to make big matches at 155
GGG needs that match up a lot more than he needs that WBC Belt that is for sure! He could probably get Billy Joe Saunders to come down to 155 and fight for his Belt and what ever purse they offer him. I still don't see this fight happening this year unless GGG agrees to 155 which we all can agree is BS but Canelo has all of the leverageComment

The answer to that question is yes, of course he is at fault.Who's he chasing, besides fellow MW champ Alvarez? He wants to unify! Is he chosing shitty competition? Or is he fighting who's put in front of him, since better-ranked contenders are avoiding him? Ward needs to prove that he's able to live up to the mythical status he held 4 years ago. What better way to do that, than face a big name guy who's naturally smaller than him? People say that Canelo, who holds a belt in the same division as GGG, has the right to demand a CW, because he's the "A" side. Yet if Golovkin shows reluctance to throw the larger and of late underachieving Ward a bone, he's somehow at fault?
Whatever he does or doesn't do, li'l g string is always at fault.Comment

fair points. You could be right.kirkland got $1.3m, lara got $1m, angulo got $850k. the $3.2m that K2 offered saunders largely would have had to come out of their own pockets and GGG's. they bid high out of necessity, basically. i don't see canelo and GBP taking a hit like that for BJS of all people
however, i could see BJS fighting alvarez for less than he would require to fight golovkinComment

And how much is Khan getting??? What's the most any boxer has gotten to fight GGG??? $850K??? I don't believe a word GGGs ppl say. Theyve been caught in more lies that Don King even blushes...kirkland got $1.3m, lara got $1m, angulo got $850k. the $3.2m that K2 offered saunders largely would have had to come out of their own pockets and GGG's. they bid high out of necessity, basically. i don't see canelo and GBP taking a hit like that for BJS of all people

No, thats because you're sore hater. Ex gilfriend - to the point analogy as mike1010011 put it.Maybe because I like to see fighter challenge themselves. How many top #25 P4P boxers has Canelo fought??? And how many has GGG fought? You right ill never see ggg lose because hell never challenge himself. I bet you CASH that Canelo next fight will be agaisnt a MUCH RANKED higher boxer than GGG next tomato can. I'll close my account if GGG fights a top 20 P4P boxer afer Peter Pan Wade. You do the same though we he picks his next tomato can. U gonna man up and take bet???Comment

/thread....Well he refuses to take any challenges. Mayweather and Pacquiao fought top 5 P4P fighters more than 10 years prior to 34 years old. And even then, it took them years of dominating through weight classes to finally get top 3 P4P recognition by journalists and fans. GGG was given the spot by beating no one of note. That doesn't get you big fights. His top 3 status was a gift by writers, websites, and fans because he is a likable KO artist, no other reason. He didn't actually earn with a big win, or several big wins.
Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo are three guys of 3 different races and they were/are all superstars. Pacquiao did not inherit a large following just from being Asian, he had to earn it by beating guys up that people didn't think he could beat. African Americans of Floyd's era don't sell very well, Floyd had to do it by winning and taking challenges. A fighter as young as Canelo being that popular doesn't just happen by being Mexican, you have take on the fighters that fans say you are ducking (Trout, Lara) and win.
Geography is not the problem here, it's the balls.Comment
