There is no degrees to this................... a catchweight is a catchweight. There's degrees of bad. CW for no title, who cares. Did anyone cry about Ward vs Smith at 172? Cws for titles are worse, but not as bad as champs asking for CWs to defend their belts. That's a recent disgraceful trend. What makes it even worse with Canelo is he's lineal, he's asking for a CW vs mando, lowest possible CW (both unprecedented) while weighing more than the challenger fight night lol
People are STILL hating on Ward to this day for fighting Dawson at a CW even though Dawson was the one who SUGGESTED it.
This isn't a recent trend. Some of you guys are exposing yourselves right now.
CW for titles are recent? Are you serious? Really, do some of y'all know ANYTHING about the history of this sport?Comment

What they said was "50/50 money and weight."
That was a fair offer, considering that GGG would be bringing the money, not Ward.
Loeffler said recently that if Ward got his buzz going and came back to them, they would budge on the catchweight request.
And it wouldn't have been for Ward's titles. Both Sanchez and Golovkin said they would never ask for a catchweight for a title fight.Comment

You saying SRL did the same thing Canelo did is the huge outcry. I have a feeling you're about to change you're narrative and say what you really meant because SRL never had 5 CW fights back to back. And never forced a CW against a smaller man.Comment

We're talking about fighting for a belt at a catchweight and then refusing o fight anyone who didn't agree to his terms right?
SRL did the same thing. He went into the LHW division and forced the Champ Lelonde to agree to fight him at 167. He beat him and took his belts and in the process he won the WBC Super Middle weight title as a bonus, a belt literally created just so SRL can call himself a 5 weight champ.
The dude never even defended his LHW belt because everyone refused the CW and he only defended his SMW title against Hearns.
That is shady, ridiculous ****. If ANY boxer did that today, they would be crucified.
Screw the fake outrage, don't wanna hear it. If GGG really wants that belt, agree to the terms and beat him.......... but we all know it is more abut fighting Canelo than winning the belt........................except for his fans.Comment
