nope. GGG didn't ask ward to go down to 161, 164 lbs is halfway. also, canelo holds the MW belt, as in middleweight. the division GGG fights. GGG doesn't hold any belt at 168, 167, 166, 165, 164, 163, 162 or 161 lbs
155 = 164

There's degrees of bad. CW for no title, who cares. Did anyone cry about Ward vs Smith at 172? Cws for titles are worse, but not as bad as champs asking for CWs to defend their belts. That's a recent disgraceful trend. What makes it even worse with Canelo is he's lineal, he's asking for a CW vs mando, lowest possible CW (both unprecedented) while weighing more than the challenger fight night lolComment

It's called negotiations. His side is going to say no to the catchweight as much as they can, but in the end if Alvarez wanted the fight to be at 154.33lbs he would get it.A catchweight is a catchweight, regardless of who holds a belt in whatever division. If you're going to demand a catchweight then you have no recourse to refuse a catchweight fight when someone who has more leverage than you demands one.
It's beyond hypocritical for the Triple Duck to ask Ward for a 164lb catchweight in one breath only to turn around and refuse to fight Alvarez @ 155lbs. Anyone who would justify this type of hypocrisy only proves themselves to be a fanboi and nut guzzler...Comment
