You can tell that the ref, as he should, saw all that and realized Floyd did something that should have been called. He just decided not to. If it was someone else, maybe 2 points deducted or DQ.

Worst PPV star ever. So many of his fights (in the second half career) were mind-numblingly awful. He would literally run in the last few rounds to boos, rather than close the show against opponents who were infinitely less talented than him.

You hear legendary trainers like Cus D'Amato says that it wasn't just enough to be a great boxer, you had to be exciting one, you had to throw punches with bad intentions too. Mayweather's genius lay in the fact that he convinced people that he had no duty to entertain, the real excitement lay in whether he would keep his "0" or not. And when he invariably stunk it up (and that awful, fearful performance against Pac just sorta sums things up), his fans would lay the blame on his opponents for not making Floyd less boring

You can talk about the beauty and gracefulness of his talent. And no doubt, he was a unique, brilliant talent. But so many of his fights were migraine-inducing - a guy cynically playing the system, knowing all the looks and moves to win enough rounds without taking any risks, fighting with very little passion. The last 3 performances of his career were utterly dire.

He had a few decent scraps at the end of this career (Cotto, Ortiz, Maidana I)

Not his fault he was so much skilled than his opponents that they couldn't do anything.

Truth is unless you were a fan of his, you wouldn't be satisfied with any of his fights unless they ended in a Mayweather loss.

What impressed me was how he made fights look so easy (JMM, Mosley, Canelo, Pacquiao)

North of 140 pounds his fights were boring. I can appreciate his safety first style, he was a defensive genius and he made more money in the sport than anyone else so you can't fault his methodology, but when it's all said and done I doubt I will ever re-watch a single fight of his from 140 pounds and above.

(Cotto, Ortiz, Maidana I) Actually the excitement always came from Floyd's opponents.

Nah, there were times he stood and traded.

Mayweather wasn't explosive but that didn't make him boring. He took advantage when he needed to and when able he finished his opponents. His problem was always his fear of hurting his hands again. He realized it wasn't always worth it.

That was once upon a time, He also bored the doors off of us for the last 6-7 years, nearly half his career. Even when his opponent was inferior in every facet of the game (IE Guerrero) he didn't deliver any action. It is a combat skirt, you know. Anyways...

with that being said, it's not his fault no one was capable of making him NOt bore us.

And personally, he was an excuse to have FAT parties for me so, I didn't mind his fight being boring too much. I expected it the last five years.
