He doesn't have to, he can take his vacant title and continue fighting the Wade's of the world.

      He's fighting his mandatory.

How can you call him a diva?

      I've heard it all now.

Canelo has moved into GG's weight class.

GG is a fellow champ and established at the weight.

      Canelo is the lineal champ.

Yet GG is a diva, even though Canelo is demanding a CW when he's weighed 172 in the past?

      Get real.

      Canelo is the dival

Mayweather moved up and down divisions. Pacquiao moved up and down. Canelo has moved down.

The fact is, Canelo is 1lb above JMW and if he wasn't the A-side (which has become a big thing these days) he'd make 154. He doesn't need to seek mega fights as he's a star attraction and all his fights are big...Golovkin is the guy searching for a big name opponent at age 33, yet is unwilling to move up or down.

The only problem I have with Canelo is the title he's holding. I don't think there's any reason for him to have a MW belt.
GG is not willing to move up yet, because there's nothing much happening at SMW and he wants to achieve all he can at MW. But that doesn't mean he should have to fight at a CW.

Yes, he said he'd have made 154 for a huge fight against Floyd. But making 154 for Floyd, is not the same as defending his own titles and fighting for the lineal MW belt at a 155 CW.

Can you not see the difference in circumstances?

You can't justify Canelo's actions by saying "Yeah, but he would have gone to 154 anyway"

        That's not the point.

I understand perfectly that GG needs this fight, and that time is against him. But the guy holding the lineal belt to ransom should be crucified here.

            WTF are you talking about??

No fighter should be bigger than the sport of boxing.

Both Canelo and GG aren't bigger than boxing.

            Rules are rules.

What does his resume have to do with anything?

A fellow MW champion, should NOT have to defend his titles and fight for the lineal belt, at a CW.

If you advocate Canelo's actions just because he's the bigger name, than you are an idiot pure and simple.

                Do you know what's tragic?

If Canelo vacated the title, you would criticise GG for the fight not taking place instead of Canelo.

Why on earth aren't you questioning why Canelo wants a CW, when he fought Trout at 172 pounds?

He weighs more on fight night than GG.

                It's a disgrace.

Sanchez said they wouldn't be willing to negotiate even to 159lbs. In search of a defining fight and huge exposure and yet you aren't willing to give a single lb?

I fully get the stance that some have, but ultimately Canelo won his belt at a catchweight and has never weighed in or fought an opponent at the MW limit...I'd rather he just drop the belt.

Canelo, with or without a belt, is the biggest name in boxing. He's going to make huge money in every fight and guys will gladly give up a couple of lbs here and there for the chance....if Golovkin won't then Canelo has no need for the fight.

Given Canelo's past, I believe he'll take the fight anyway, but he is not in need of it.
