Maybe you're confusing the lax punches he does as he's looking to set up other shots. I see him doing that a lot. Soft jab to get a guy to shift his guard, then drill in a stiff cross or hook. That's not slop, that's the sign of a master.
On the other hand, Fury historically has a habit of not returning his hands to guard and leaning back as defense. That's more of a lazy punching style and very unsafe against an intelligent fighter with the movement Ortiz has.
Thats a great analysis of Ortiz....many mexican fighters also do this...it is the equivalent of a pitcher changing speeds on pitches. In the case of a fighter, like ortiz, he varies the mass and snap he puts behind his shots. Thsi is especially good for heavy handed fighters because even a slow shot can thump a guy into oblivion if body weight is behind it.

Fury fights off the back leg at times...A lost art when everyone wants to square up these days. He is also deliberate when he does this. For example carrying the lead hand low so the guy wades in then that hand counters very well for Fury. He often floats it over a lazy jab or straight right, into the guys jaw from a blind side. because this counter is not seen it has a greater effect, he did this to Vlad on several occasions.

I'm too lazy to look it up but "something something Jorge Linares is like Roberto Duran."
Yes. Max Kellerman goes overboard with his passion for boxers, he gushes over them like a teen-aged girl with a new crush.

        Wlad knocks Ortiz out
Fury beats the hell out of the old man...maybe late TKO

        /end thread.

        Kellerman is smarter than this...

The hype fighters gain after 1 decent victory these days is ridiculous..wait no it's F'IN RIDICULOUS.

This 36 year old is 2 years away from retirement....PEDS might help him there though...

If I had it my way i'd put Luis Ortiz up against Stiverne and Wilder in 2016.

Judge a man not by his age, but by his actions.

Luis Ortiz hasn't shown signs of aging. He'd wreck most of these young lions.

I think it is hubris...moat of us, sans Elroid, have a tendency to self reflect on our opinions, at least a bit. His analysis in this vid is telling, it makes a correct point then draws a horrendously obscenely wrong conclusion.

max correctly touts Ortiz's Ammy pedigree, and that goes double because the Cuban's teach a great system, problem is its geared towards the ammy's and a real boxing analyst can see problems transitioning.

For example, with Ortiz? he does not know how to cut the ring down, not from the fights of his I have seen. he chases punchers down, back and fourth, like they do in the Ammy's. before calling him the Cuban Big George one has to remember that Foreman was a master of cutting the ring down and stepping in the right places to do so, having learned from Liston.

Kellerman's other bobo is not to realize the training Fury has under his belt. Fury was taught how to move properly in the ring, his skills are not mysterious, nor are they improvised beyond that which experience dictates.

If they fought Ortiz would chase Fury all night and get peppered with jabs. Thats the problem when a guy can't properly cut the ring down. Fury has the reach to quickly step to the side of either of Ortiz's guns, and pluck him with a jab.

Ortiz is an excellent fighter (I Liked Odanier better) and Ortiz has great counter punching ability...so does Fury.

Kellerman is kind of blind to all these skills and if he can't see the skills Tyson displays thats kind of sad. Fury is all wrong for Ortiz in my humble opinion.

Wouldn't Fury use his jab to keep Ortiz off him?

Fury would use PED's for his stamina to go 12 rounds, like he did versus Wlad.

                  Perhaps.

But didn't he test negative before the fight with Wlad?

Ortiz has tested positive in the past as well.

Ortiz would flatten tyson, no doubt about it.
I will never understand how a guy who's nearly 7 feet tall and weighs nearly 20 stones is so feather fisted.

No, he tested positive after the Hammer fight, before the Wlad fight. He's currently in the appeal stage, as confirmed by Matt Christie of Boxing News UK.
