Tv fights cost $3.85 million ($2 mil GGG, 1.5 Lemieux, 250k Gonzalez, Viloria 100k)

That leaves just under a million to cover the undercard, event expenses, and ancillary costs.

And there still is the additional revenue from the live gate, the Canadian rights, overseas rights, rebroadcast rights to HBO, merchandise, advertisers, sponsors, etc

Nobody got rich, but the event definitely made money

    They sold 97k.

The 150k number that they bounced around immediately after the fight was debunked.

It is really stretching to paint that event as a success.

Also, some of those numbers were from oversea's markets who charge much less than USD-$55.

We pay NZ-$40 for Mayweather fights here, that is what May/Pac cost.

But, PPV's for jokesters like SBW cost $40 as well

I guess they figure that we will pay $40, regardless.

But that is USD$26.58..... at today's rate.

And as for Floyd?? Dude wouldnt even fight Canelo without a catchweight, and that was in a division he won titles in twice before. LOL

      but but but TBE doe
Yes Mayweather fought at a catcthweight in his fifth weight divsion. Golovkin won't even fight in his first jump in weight without a catchweight of 164. Of course if it's an easier opponent like Chavez jr or Froch, 168 is fine with him.

But since you're Golovkin's 24 hour captain save a ho it's fine with you too LOL

        Anthony Dirrell
Andre Dirrell (Last man to beat GGG AND both times were VERY close)
        Badou Jack

ALL are better than any of the other 160lbers not named GGG of course.
These are all decent fights although IMO none of these guys are particularly special - Degale being the pick of the bunch, but not by a wide margin. Nonetheless they are all probably better than anything the MW division has to offer as a challenge for GGG, especially with the weight difference figured in. The pre Super 6, Dre Dirrell would have been the top pick of course, but he ain't the same fighter now. and Anthony was always a level below.

I can understand the financial reasons for staying at 160 (especially with all the above guys being Haymon fighters - also the reason, of course that HBO insisted on Ward moving up) but as a fight fan I simply don't see any real challenge at 160 for Golovkin. The guy is one of my favourite fighters, but it's becoming hard to work up much excitement for fights where, barring a minor miracle, there can be only one winner.

but but but next year doe

          You don't believe that

When HBO was discussing that fight with Andre/Gennady at the start of the year they asked Ward if he was ready for that fight now..... he said no.

IMMEDIATELY after the Smith fight he approached Team Hypekin.

They said..... numbers doe, draw doe, 164lb catchweight doe, etc.

Roc Nation approached them again recently..... HBO/K2/RN could have signed a deal similar to Ward/Kovalev, which would not have affected the Le Pew fight, or his mandatory with the Cotto/Canelo winner..... but oh no, we couldn't have that now, could we?

          Come on man get real

Want me to post a timeline, with dates/links from HBO/K2 ?

Yes, there are some that are going to do that. There are also posters that are giving it to GGG fans that created this crazy logic when they were Manny fans. This is NSB.

For the rest of us it is simply wanting to see if he can apply those skills and beat better caliber opponents. If he does, he will get full credit. If he doesn't, its fair to ask people to ratchet the hyperbole down a bit.
