Lomo/Russell went to purse bid because Haymon wouldn't even negotiate with TR on the fight. He also refused to negotiate with TR for Korobov/Quillin. These incidents were reported prior to the purse bids. Just like the Russian promoter said Haymon wouldn't respond for negotiation on Chudinov/Jacobs.

When RN won the purse bid for Korobov/Quillin, HBO agreed to buy the fight. It was then canceled at the last second, just like Stieverne/Ortiz, even though Stieverne and his manager had already agreed to all the terms weeks before.
Thats just it, he cant just name his price. HBO is BIG on sticking to their budget. They are keeping their purse super tight. The reality is Showtime is prepared to pay alot more for this fight then HBO is. That is why HBO has ordered Duva to not participate in the purse bid.

HBO didn't do its due diligence and got the fight signed. Haymon came in and signed Adonis to prevent it being on HBO most likely in retaliation for being banned and because the fight would get good ratings. Yeah, haymon screwed HBO on that.

Regarding Lom/Russell. It was for a vacant belt that's why it went to a bid.

OK. I wasn't aware. If you have a link I would appreciate it.

Haymon isn't going to help HBO while he is banned. He is trying to undermine them the same way they undermined him. Its a very personal business conflict that I hope gets ended.

Absolutely. HBO has been cutting its budget. SHowtime is still owned by CBS, which is getting ooh gobs of dough as they are have been the 1 network for a while.

This is really just a high stakes poker or chess game.

Duva has been saying for a long time that there's a standing offer to Stevenson for 50/50 on Hbo

There is a potential to make a lot of money on Kovalev vs Stevenson. Do you think that Haymon & HBO will put aside their differences to make one of the biggest fights out there?

I don't think its as big a money fight as others. Its a fight fans dream fight, no doubt.

That said, it is a fight between a pimp and a racist so I don't know in todays climate (especially on social media) if the fight will cross over into the mainstream.

I DESPERATELY want the politics to end and want this other fights to be made.

kinda reminds me of the Calzaghe-Kessler match I mentioned in another thread. Hardcores loved that it got made. Casuals didnt notice

HBO couldnt care less if Duva does the purse bid, and honestly, I dont know why she didnt just do it. Obviously if she lost the bid, she would have to pull out, since Kov cant fight on Showtime. I just dont understand why she didnt go through with the bid anyways, and who knows maybe she wins. Not likely, but whats to lose by trying?

At least by going through with the bid she would have an idea as to what kind of money Haymon was willing to spend on the fight......

I don't get what you mean about the fight not crossing over to the mainstream. Boxing is a niche sport, that's driven largely by its fans. Do you think that Kovalev vs Stevenson won't make big money because one is an alleged racist & the other an alleged pimp? Mayweather is a convicted domestic abuser & it's widely known that Pacquiao nearly womanized and gambled his way to a divorce. We know that fight was huge anyway. No one is looking for role models in boxing.

Its a big money fight in Canada only.

Its gonna be on PPV, either in Quebec City or Montreal in front of a sold out crowd.

In the US its gonna get very good ratings, but thats about it I guess.
