If you dont want to derail the thread then dont write a bunch of non-sense knowing damn well that what the other poster wrote was in fact accurate.
    Stop. Just stop.

Do you typically use the word "other" to compare things that are not in the same category?

"I like my car. Its better than other swimming pools I had"

"my attorney is great. much better than other house painters"

So when Degale said Haymon was better than "other promoters", what exactly was he saying?

    Perhaps you could translate.........

Haymon is insulated by the fact that the Justice Dept has no interest whatsoever in Ali Act violations, and has never prosecuted a single one to my knowledge......

Do you think that is common in the industry? That a promoter has no financial stake in his own promotion?

But I'll play devils advocate for a minute and assume that's true, and now Haymon is just a "manager". Then how do you reconcile the fact that the Ali Act prohibits a "manager" from having a financial interest in the promotion of a boxer? Since all the event revenue (advertising, gate, merchandise, etc) ultimately belongs to PBC, and not the "fee-based promoter", how could you possibly argue that Haymon does not have a financial interest in the promotion, and thus is not violating the Ali Act?

        sigh........

You didnt want to derail the thread, but now you went from arguing that Haymon is a promoter to arguing that Haymon is violating the Ali act?

Oh and by the way, Degale vs Bute was not a PBC event and it isnt true that GYM had no financial interest in its success.

        sigh...

I never claimed Degale vs Bute was a PBC event. You are making things up. All I said about Degale was that he correctly referred to Haymon as a promoter......

You are free to disagree. You are not free to make **** up

The outcome of the lawsuit will determine if Haymon has violated the law or if he found a legal loophole and exploited it just like countless other business people have.

Now it may not be common in the industry, but the industry is changing. Its the major promoters who seem so resistant to change because it threatens their ability to exploit the system for their own gain.

Smaller promoters have found an avenue to grow their businesses and are taking it. This isn't illegal simply because it has never been done before.

Respectfully, I am not arguing anything. I am saying that while you have reached a conclusion, the courts have not. You make it seem rather cut and dry yet we have already seen certain aspects dismissed. Your conclusion could be wrong.

As of now, Haymon is the manager/adviser and Hearn is the promoter. When nelson says "all promoters are welcome" that is not the same as saying "the ban on Haymon fighters is lifted".

Fair point. HBO signing fighters to exclusive deals makes them the defacto promoter as well. But "defacto" and "actual" are 2 different things.

You can't just make Haymon a promoter. besides, Nelson is a Harvard educated writer making the 1st statement about his business plan in his new position. You think he chose the word promoter by accident?

I just don't see how this is even a debate, Haymon is legally and literally a manager/adviser and not a promoter.

Look at kovalev last opponent and ggg last few opponents all completely one sided fights. Look at canelo kirkland and all the crawford fights the lomenchenko fights pretty much every boxer they propaganda p4p over fights a bunch of over matched foes and they blame haymon for it and people fall for it. i mean the list goes on and on all of which would be completely bashed by boxing fans if they were same fights under the pbc banner.

People can say whatever they want but the reality is with hbo it seems like every big fight is possible and "might" happen in the future and in the mean time we get bs. I mean honestly i dont really care that people give hbo a pass but its annoying when they bash pbc and praise hbo when they both doing same things. The difference is pbc has so many more fights on tv that of course a large percentage is going to be showcase i mean thats just common sense.

Am i the only one who notices hbo puts on bull **** one sided fights and gets away with it? I mean seriously give me a break with this idea that hbo puts on great fights the reality is their fights are one sided as **** and used as propaganda in p4p agendas
You thoughts so until Ggg signed, then it became a cherrypick. Remember this, fraud:

Exactly. And HBO has been a de facto promoter themselves for decades & I wouldn't be surprised if Haymon got his idea for PBC & outsourcing promotional duties via HBO who he was talking to for years when he only managed Vernon Forest & a small handfull of other fighters. Granted he's not copying HBO's model, but it seems a hybrid of HBO's model to me.
