Duva, Roc and HBO ALL want Ward to step up and agree to take the fight, but unless Ward wants it too, it won't happen.

I'll repeat a question I asked earlier - have Ward and his trainer said that THEY want the fight?

Not Duva or HBO, but Ward and Virgil Hunter?

ward's people are absolutely in talks with kovalev's people. there's a dan rafael article with duva quotes and rocnation quotes. they're targeting a ppv fight in 2016.

... People still discussing Ward as if he was still fighting.
... The guy retired long ago, but Dawson's proverbial ******ity provided the false impression that he's still in the sport.

One thing I can guarantee will happen this fight: Ward will clinch...
I almost wanna say "guaranteed Ward never fights Kovalev" because it seems like it... 3 tuneups? He fights once every lmao

Amazing fight, more competitive than Ward-GGG too.

No fannying about with negotiations like GGG's team are prone to do either, which is nice.

In my opinion beating Ward doesn't prove who the number 1 guy is, its a good win on paper because of things he did 5 years ago but he's done nothing and been inactive since so...

I don't see how that merits who should be P4P 1, it certainly would toss Ward back into top 5 if he beats Kovalev.

By Ward's people you mean Roc Nation?

They want Andre to fight Kovalev, no doubt about that. They need to get a return on the money they invested in him.

But Roc also sent an offer to Loeffler, trying to target a fight with GGG, also in 2016. And that was months after Duva started talking up Ward/Kovalev.

If Ward himself had committed to fighting Kovalev, we would have heard about it by now, and Roc wouldn't have sent that offer to Loeffler.

True. Ward's the hype job who has only fought once since December of 2013, against soft and out of shape Paul Smith.
