he sounds like someone that doesnt want to see fighters succeed. who in their right mind wants to make an excuse to why Ward vs Kovalev shouldnt happen. this is why fans dont get fights sometimes, ppl are so into their shell of security of fights not happening to reserve their right to **** on fighters. this is why outsiders dont value the sport sometimes and throw the cliche "boxing is dead"

bc the goal was to target GGG first then settle into LHW before the Kovalev fight by the end of 2016. thats the logic thing to do and what ALL boxing fans would love, 2 fights featuring 3 of the top 5 p4p fighter whom all happen to be undefeated and have unified their respective divisons. GGG vs Ward and GGG vs Kovalev are fights i would have love to see but my focus is solely on Kovalev vs Ward now.
So Andre Ward, who has had three fights in FOUR YEARS was going to fight GGG in Fall 2016 and then take on Kovalev a month or two later?

That's his opinion though, you don't just go out of boxing for 2/3 years without being relevant and then all of a sudden you come back and beat Paul Smith or w/e his name is then reclaim a mantle...
Its different for Floyd because he atleast came back and fought someone that made sense, someone who wasn't on a massive losing streak of each time he stepped up to get a belt lol.
Ward should have earned his 168 titles back the right way then he could have claimed it but for now he has DeGale and Jack ahead of him.Comment

So you think the plan was for Ward to have another tune-up at 168, then fight GGG, then another couple of tune-ups at 175, then Kovalev, all before the end of 2016?bc the goal was to target GGG first then settle into LHW before the Kovalev fight by the end of 2016. thats the logic thing to do and what ALL boxing fans would love, 2 fights featuring 3 of the top 5 p4p fighter whom all happen to be undefeated and have unified their respective divisons. That is absolutely what you do.
P4P is completely hypothetical.
Ward was inacitive, he did not suddenly become David Lemieux.
He was still sharp, still elite, still got those mad skills, still P4P.
Mayweather did the exact same thing.
Suggesting that those two fighters " start again " is absurd.
If Ward was half-as-shht as you guys make out, Golovkin would have fought him.Comment

Don't get me wrong. I don't think Ward belongs anywhere near a P4P top 10 list until he fights a minimum of twice per year for two years or wins at least another title at SMW by fighting outside the US.That's his opinion though, you don't just go out of boxing for 2/3 years without being relevant and then all of a sudden you come back and beat Paul Smith or w/e his name is then reclaim a mantle...
