This entire debate is premature. I fully believe the two will fight eventually. I would bet Gennady wants to fight this guy badly. Gennady didn't take the smack talk from Stevens too kindly. But he's 33 and wants to set his family up so Bigger fights come first. Ward just has to wait his turn. If Canelo wins, Canelo-GGG is the biggest fight in boxing! That comes first. I don't think Ward will fight Kovalev so he will still be floundering around by the time Gennady is finished with his business. After all 4 fights in Gennady time is only 1 year lol. And if by that time people still think GGG is the under dog I'm placing a bet on GGG by stoppage.

even if that fight eventually comes off, it will probably be 12 months down the line. he can't waste any more time sitting around or taking tune-ups on undercards and BET. if he wants golovkin sooner rather than later, he needs to push the issue - reduce his monetary demands or accept a catchweight. otherwise, he needs a big-ish fight or two while he waits his turn. beating dunn and periban does nothing towards making the golovkin fight. the higher his profile, the more likely that golovkin will move up and fight him. and if anything his profile has been shrinking - in fact, all that's keeping him afloat currently is the promise of a golovkin fightComment

Don't over analyze, the principles are the same and simple.
Bigger guy with few options needs smaller, more popular guy to move up for fight. Bigger guy doesn't go and offer 50/50.Comment

Please don't encourage that ass clown. If for one minute you think GGG cares more about the WBC belt than he does the career high payday against Cotto or Canelo, you're a damn fool. That logic in itself is hypocritical. On one hand, GGG wants the glory of a belt that no one outside of his diehards give a **** ass about, moreso than the money from a Cotto or Canelo shot. On the other, the glory of a Ward win doesn't matter because ir won't generate enough money. Which one is it?Comment

How so? Ward isn't even in the same division. His last fight, was at light heavyweight, the same division he won a gold medal in. Why are Ward and his fans so tuned in, to the guy from a lower division for a fight? Why not just go to where he last fought and fight the best guys there?Comment
