For whatever reason he turned pro at a late age. The great Hopkins had done very little himself at the age of 33. Check his record if you don't believe me. GGG has defeated at least 6 middleweights rated in the top 10 in the world. That's more contenders than any other middleweight has defeated. He is rated the best middleweight in the world and top 5 or higher pound for pound by boxrec, boxing scene, espn, ring magazine and damn near everyone else. He is fighting a fellow champion and bad ass fighter Lemieux next. He has tried to fight all the best middleweights be he can't help it if they refuse to fight him. His best win is Murray who is now a top rated 168 pounder. Murray beat Martinez but got robbed in Argentina. GGG is a small middleweight and quite clearly the best middleweight in the world. Why should he have to move up and fight way above his best fighting weight? There are lots of good fights for him at 160 when the other top middleweights get the courage to fight him. He knocks out 4 middleweights a year. What else do you want him to do?

How long has ward been at 168?
Why is he acting like Joe Calzaghe?
So what if he wants GGG?
wtf does that mean or matter to anyone including GGG who fights at another division?
so what if he said he wants GGG before Kovalev?
why would he wait for a guy who FIGHTS IN ANOTHER DIVISION who has no names yet and is trying to get names and is doing his own thing?
why wouldnt a guy who has ALREADY WIPED OUT HIS DIVISION AND HAS DEFEATED A 175LB CHAMP IN DAWSON, WAS AN AMATEUR 175 CHAMP, HAS FOUGHT AT 168 HIS ENTIRE CAREER......
HAVE TO WAIT FOR A GUY WHO FIGHTS IN ANOTHER DIVISION BEFORE HE FINALLY MOVES UP AND FIGHTS A GUY HE'S SUPPOSE TO BE FIGHTING?
how ****** are you?
dont answer that question. its rhetorical.
Additionally, had you typed "fact" (preferably bolded,in caps and followed by a period) somewhere in there, you would have further enhanced the credibility of your position.

GGG needs names on his resume, but doesn't wanna get screwed outta money & the opponents wanna fight top guys, but they also wanna get the credit they deserve & the right money when they agree to fight those top guys. These things seldom meet in the middle when a unknown guy (for much of his reign in GGG's case) is a really good unknown guy (as GGG obviously is). Now GGG is starting to get more & more eyes on him with each fight so I think we are nearing the end of this being the case.
I think Geale or Macklin were probably GGG's best win.

But, quote me on this, HBO want to bill GGG v Ward for 2016, latest early 2017. Having said that, it might not necessarily be at 168lb.
Now, why doesn't GGG move up this instant? Well a unification fight, which is what he has coming up now, is always enticing plus he has always spoken of his desire to be the universally recognised guy at MW and he can only do that by either beating Cotto (unlikely cos Cotto doesn't want any of that) or by winning the vacant "lineal" title some where down the line. That's his dream.
Why should he give it up to fight a bad memory in a higher division?

Cotto has made it pretty clear he won't do it.
And GGG simply isn't big enough for 168.

I agree GGG is up there in age and doesn't really have a signature win yet. Hopefully it comes soon. I wonder how old B.Hop was when he got his first signature win. Against Trinidad no? Same thing with Martinez? There's been some top fighters that got their signature win in their 30's. Anyway hopefully GGG can fight the winner of Canelo/Cotto and it can answer some questions. Would like to see him to try to become Undisputed Champ before moving up.
