Canelo and Cotto have bigger fish to fry so GGG took a back seat. Just like he told Lara and Ward to take a back seat.

GGG beating up on 154LB Lara would get ZERO credit on here. I dont even know why this fight is mentioned.

But he would get credit for Canelo or Cotto?

Because they need it to seem like GGG is ducking someone...he'd destroy Lara, I think everyone knows that except the same bunch of guys that hate on GGG in everything thread.

This is the same crap people like me say about Floyd defending his 154 belt against GGG, but does his team have the same confidence as I do in Floyd? Doesn't look like it.
Ward is sitting right there, Ward wants the fight, and (pending a stellar performance) Ward is on the cusp for being confirmed as the chief support for Cotto-Alvarez, a show that is likely to do north of 700k PPV buys.

Golovkin says he wants a big fight, his camp has been running their mouths about wanting any fighter 154-168, and (outside of possible fights with the Cotto-Alvarez winner or Andy Lee) there's not a single other fight in the cue that HBO could put Golovkin on PPV for, let alone pay out the rights fee needed.

MGM is opening a brand-new arena come April/May 2016, Floyd Mayweather is said to be retiring after the Berto fight, and the MGM is going to be looking at a big showdown to open the doors with.

(Stevenson-Kovalev, Wilder-Klitschko, and Cotto-Alvarez II are bigger fights, but Golovkin-Ward isn't much behind those showsdowns, tbh; both fighters are based out of California, the fight would play off the NorCal-SoCal rivalry, HBO is going to continue to push Golovkin, fight would draw interest from the New York (nation's top media market), L.A. (#3 media market), and SF/Bay Area (#5 media market), media can latch onto Ward as America's last Olympic gold medalist, and RocNation has the cache to bring along the non-sports audience)

Golovkin has a meaningful fight, a fight that will draw him a sizable payday, and a fight that could launch him (were he actually to win), yet he chickens out of the fight.

Golovkin brings absolutely nothing to the table for Floyd Mayweather, out side of two arms, two legs, and a face to punch; why would Floyd fight Golovkin at 154 when he's easily got 5-10 other possible fights that would get him the same, or more, money? (Floyd vs Pacquiao2/Cotto2/Alvarez2/Brook/Thurman/Khan/Garcia all deliver significantly more money and vs Porter/Berto/Quillin/Jacobs/etc deliver similar money).

Andre Ward is a great fighter a weight class or 2 above GGG now depending on what he does. The risk is not worth it for them at the moment. If a Canelo or Cotto fight is on the horizon it just doesn't make sense to fight Ward now. Why people can't see this is beyond me.
GGG will fight Ward, just not until he lands that big $ fight with Canelo/Cotto.
I am one of the few people around here who likes Ward a lot, a very complete fighter. Apart from K.O. power he has it all. Speed, inside game, outside game, strength, defense, accuracy.

With that said, he's coming a long layoff and GGG is on a K.O. streak . GGG's stock wouldn't go down too much if he was to lose a decision.
I think he should take the risk, a win over Ward would be exactly what his resume urgently needs.

And just to make my stance clear, although GGG's team has been quite annoying recently, there is no excuse for Cotto and Canelo.

Cotto should have vacated , his run at MW is a joke, he doesn't even need the pull of a belt to get a fight.
As for Canelo, he should either bring his arse down to 154 or fight true MW's at 160.

He gets credit for all 3, people will just deny it because that's what fits their subjective views.

                  Martinez
                  Sturm
                  Murray
                  Geale
                  Soon to be Lemieux
                  Stevens
                  Rosado
                  Quillen
If half those didn't duck him outright.
So hate all you want, the guy fights 4 times a year against anyone who will fight him. why would he be afraid of Andre Ward? Losing a boring 12 round decision won't kill his career. Ward is a nobody to be honest, casuals don't even know who he is.
Ward is a "nobody" who would abuse the **** out of Golovkin, probably on the verge of ruining him as a fight, and Lara would make Golovkin look like such utter dog**** (while likely getting robbed on the cards), that the hype train will fizzle out.

Keep defending the man if you want. Golovkin will fight 15:1 longshot David Lemieux, his camp will continue to **** their pants whenever Ward's name is mentioned, and they'll be left fighting another bum fighter come January, hoping that the ruse holds up for at least one more fight.

Exactly. The way I see it, he's trying to maximise risk vs reward, so is in no position to complain when others do the same to him.

Yeah actually he would. Cottto has a middleweight title, correct? canelos fighting cotto for the middleweight title, correct? Therefore cotto and canelo are fair game to other middleweights.
