Some of his wins being shut down are just a product of "The Hindsight Bias".

Hindsight bias, also known as the knew-it-all-along effect or creeping determinism, is the inclination, after an event has occurred, to see the event as having been predictable, despite there having been little or no objective basis for predicting it.

The hindsight bias is the most common human behavior in boxing. Just about every fighter is a victim of this effect.

Yeah, but the thing is it's okay to look back on some of these things and evaluate them in new contexts. When I say that, I don't mean we should say things like - we expected Martinez to lose - (unless you did) because that is dishonest.

But rather, for example, at the time Cotto/Malignaggi seemed like it would be a competitive fight between two promising fighters. We may not necessarily have known how it would turn out before hand** BUT in terms of looking back at how big a win that was, we do still use information that we've learned later to make that determination. I'm sure if Malignaggi lost that fight and then went on to become the GOAT, that would go on to be perceived as a big win for Cotto, and likewise if Malignaggi followed that L up with 10 consecutive losses to people who have lost more fights than they've won, we wouldn't think that was such a big deal. And that seems perfectly fine to me.

We aren't going back and re-establishing whether we knew Cotto would beat Malignaggi at the time, rather we are going back and reviewing how big a deal beating Malignaggi is. Of course I think considering the context going into the fight is important, and truth be told Cotto probably changed Malignaggi's perspective completely as he's never stopped talking about how Cotto was the greatest fighter he's faced etc, and that Malignaggi was probably the most prime, physically and mentally, of any other version that would go on to lose many other fights.

Similarly, we aren't going back and saying "I knew Cotto would beat Martinez", rather we are going back and saying "Oh **** I had not known before hand how bad Martinez's knees really were, that made an unfortunate and clear impact on the fight".

You see the tendency -2lbs with each fight. Theoretically the GGG fight should be at 153, but since its under jmw limit, I think Cotto being an A-side would request 154.00000000001 lbs limit and they gonna use scales from NASA or some chemistry labor.
