I see guys making up their own take on events & trying to make that the world view & then guys coming in who bring facts & bringing the initial claim people down to reality or just reduce them to name calling after facts have been brought forth. Here I just see some facts at the beginning & few renouncing those facts in any way & just claiming hate.

I wouldn't go so far as claiming Cotto isn't an elite HOF guy like some have in this thread, but there is no doubt his multiple titles were mostly manufactured by TR/Arum as he has a very Joey Gamache-ish/Adrien Broner-ish title history that (imo) is more a testament of his promoters/managers capabilities than his own.

First let's address your "vacant" championship versus an incumbent champion. So what? Was the belt raffled off or something? Or did he still have to defeat another fighter to get the belt?

Now about your dismissal of some of his opponents. Yes... Mosley was 36 years old when he lost to Cotto in what was a brilliant fight for Cotto. Yet he still had enough in the tank to KO Mayorga a year later, and KTFO Margarito a few months after that.

Zab Judah on a losing streak? So what? Three years after losing to Cotto (in another brilliant fight).... here was the same Judah earning a victory over the previously undefeated Lucas Matthysse. Not bad, huh?

I invite you to take an objective view of Cotto's entire resume. I'll gladly stack it up against any contemporary fighter... one by one. Cotto fought more than his share of the difficult and dangerous boxers and defeated them all. Ricardo Torres, Randall Bailey... hell... he took out the previously undefeated Carlos Quintana who.... easy enough now to dismiss him to make the case against Cotto. But the same Quintana who 2 years later got a UD over Paul Williams.

BTW.... as a bit of info.... Cotto would've absolutely destroyed Ricky Hatton had they met back in the day. I'm only sorry they never got the chance to meet.
just a quick side note, Ricardo Torres almost Ko'ed cotto badly he had a hard time bad

That was a fire fight. He almost KO'd Cotto and ended up getting KO'd himself.

You are reading what you wanna read apparently. I said "I wouldn't go so far as claiming Cotto isn't an elite HOF guy like some have in this thread". But when I do look at Cotto's wins it feels a lil manufactured & uninspired for how much attention he gets.

2004 - Sosa, Ndou, Pinto, Bailey (lost 2 of his last 4 fights)
2005 - Corley (lost 2 of his last 3 fights), Abdullaev, Torres
                2006 - Branco (35yrs), Malignaggi, Quintana
                2007 - Urkal (37yrs), Judah (lost last 2 fights & a NC), Mosley (36yrs)
                2008 - Gomez
                2009 - Jennings, Clottey
                2010 - Foreman
                2011 - Mayorga (37yrs + lost 2 of his last 4 fights), Margarito (lost 2 of his last 3 fights + hadn't fought in a year)
                2012 - n/a
                2013 - Rodriguez, Martinez (39yrs + hadn't fought in a year)
2014 - Geale (lost 2 of his last 4 fights)

I always hear Mayweather getting dissed for the lack of W's vs fighters in their prime, but who the eff did Cotto beat in their prime that is getting anyone excited? I think the best prime guy Cotto beat was either Clottey or Paulie.

How many other fighters out there that would still go through cotto's resume and still earn the money that he is getting for his up coming fight?
