The Man, The Myth, The Legend...... Miguel Cotto.

    The Man

Cotto has never been The Man in any division he was in.

Cotto was at 140 2001-2006. The Man at 140 was Kostya Tszyu, later Ricky Hatton. Cotto was never even ranked the 2nd best guy at 140 during those years.

Cotto was at 147 2006-2009. The Man at 147 at the time was Floyd Mayweather. When Floyd retired briefly, Cotto had the chance to be The Man when he fought Margarito as the Top 2 ranked in the division. Cotto lost.

Cotto also won a paper belt at 154. Was he ever The Man at 154? His wins at 154 were Yuri Foreman, washed up Ricardo Mayorga, one eyed Antonio Margarito and Delvin Rodriguez. He couldn't even beat Austin Trout.

Now he's champ at 160. Do you honestly think he's the best middleweight? He doesn't even want to fight middleweights.

    The Myth

Miguel Cotto fights everyone. A warrior who fought everyone.

    Really?

Miguel Cotto has had one of the most "PROMOTER CREATED" careers in boxing.

Top Rank matchmakers had to work overtime to get him his belts.

His 1st 3 belts were all vacant titles.

He won the vacant WBO 140 belt fighting Kelson Pinto.
He won the vacant WBC 147 belt fighting Carlos Quintana.
He won the vacant WBO 147 belt fighting Michael Jennings.
The 1st time he won a belt from a "CHAMPION" was cherrypicking Yuri Foreman.

Cotto never tried to unify and fight another "CHAMPION".

People thought Cotto was fighting everyone because he fought Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito 2007-2008.

Judah hadn't won in 2 years when Cotto fought him. Winless in his 3 previous fights.

Mosley was 36 yrs. old and people thought he was washed up after going 1W-4L-1NC 2002-2004.

Margarito had just lost the previous year to Paul Williams and let's be honest Cotto and handlers thought Margarito was too slow and unskilled.

      The Legend

Miguel Cotto is one of Puerto Rico's greatest fighters.

      Uh huh.

Do you know how many greats have come from Puerto Rico?

Carlos Ortiz, Bazooka Gomez, Wilfredo Benitez, Tito Trinidad, Edwin Rosario, Hector Camacho, Esteban de Jesus.

Look up those guys accomplishments and guys they beat.

Cotto was never the Lineal Champion at 140, 147 or 154.

Cotto was never #1 P4P, #2 P4P, #3 P4P in any year. Was he even a Top 5 P4P? Maybe for a few weeks? Low end Top 10 P4P for a couple years?

Who was the Greatest Fighter Cotto beat? 36 yr. old Mosley? 40 yr. old Martinez? Winless in 2 yrs. Judah? Prime Malignaggi?
