Very strong argument that Chavez's competition at 130 is better than Mayweather's at the same weight. Rocky Lockridge is unquestionably better than anyone Mayweather fought there, then you add in the likes of Laporte, Roger Mayweather, Martinez, Castillo.

Diego Corrales vs Lockridge would have been great but I can see Corrales beating him and vise versa


Laporte was good but inconsistent and was a gatekeeper before his 30s


their resume are pretty even but I give Mayweather the edge because I think his opponents would beat Chavez' opponents.....Id take Corrales, Jesus CHavez and Genaro Hernandez over Rocky Lockridge, Martinezm and Laporte(some people think Juan won or deserved a draw)

floyd is a complete phony. he carefully cherrypicked all of his fights. there's a reason why he never legitimately beat a prime hof'er, and there's a reason why he avoided a lot of other threats.

this 49-0 (which really should be 46-2-1) is an overrated joke.

Exactly. And this doesn't get mentioned often enough. Mayweather competes in the kiddie division, as do all non-heavyweights. They can be good for what they are. But they can never be the best of all, unless they are capable of beating everyone in an open competition not segregated by size/gender/age or any other handicapping system.

This is Boxing, chances are you aren't going to go through the world level without close fights that you could argue they lost. Barely anyone did it, I can't think of a single one.

But don't say "Marciano went undefeated without controversy" because that is flat out false.
