Floyd didn't outgrow anything, he moved up chasing bigger names.
After the JMM rematch at 130, Manny was one-n-done at 35 grabbing a paper trinket against David Diaz. Then immediately jumped to 47 to fight DLH. Then jumped down to 140, only weighing in at like 137/138 or so for Hatton. He didn't outgrow anything.
Hopkins did what GGG is trying to do. That's sit around and wait on smaller fighters to come to him. Hopkins got lucky because Don King's middleweight tourney allowed him to get Tito. Then DLH eventually tried his luck. But he never became a crossover star. And its likely neither will GGG. Because Hopkins was seen even then as an old guy, so younger guys like Tito and DLH were hoping he was past it. The difference is, GGG is seen as the young, fresh guy, despite his age. And he's trying to lure up smaller fighters that are past it, on the way out. Plus, Hopkins never came close to becoming a crossover star. So that's not exactly a blueprint GGG needs to follow.
GTFOOH with your bull****. They were kids when they started out and grew through the divisions till they reached where they are today.
GGG was already a grown man when he turned pro.

both floyd and manny have moved up several divisions from when they were 25. your point doesnt mean much when GGG is still to scared to move up 1 division.

Golovkin is doing Ward the favour so he can cut down a minor 4lbs for the A-side.
Come on Ward be a man you've begged for the fight you can't get everything your own way when you're obviously the B-side with hardly any fans.

As for Roc Nation going overboard, totally disagree. Ward is arguably the best fighter in the world. Floyd's the P4P King. But I don't think even the most dirhard Floyd fan could with a straight face says he's currently the best in the world. And in my experience as a fight fan, guys like Ward always end up in big fights.
