You just desperately want Cotto in the ring with Golovkin, and you dont care how/why.

Cotto needs to drop the strap for this reason.....
" every middleweight fight, will be at catchweight ".

If you cant handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen.

But I do not agree with your position.

FACT: Cotto is not a middleweight, he weighed 153 for his last fight

That is a 7lb difference..... more than a division.

Golovkin, despite stating that he will fight anyone from 154-168, demanded a catchweight from Ward, and that is apparently fine..... and yet Cotto (who is a genuine star, and clearly not a middleweight) has to front up at 160?

If this fcukery doesnt prove that catchweights are fkn absurd, and are ruining the sport..... then nothing will.
Ward doesn't have near the pulling power of Cotto. Ward had his knees buckled by Tomato Can Smith and couldn't even fill his own home town arena. Cotto has the middleweight belt. If Cotto doesn't want to meet at 160 then GGG will get the belt. That is all that really matters to GGG. Cotto has been ducking GGG for two years and will duck again by insisting on 160. Back in October GGG made the fight with Rubio to be the mandatory for the opportunity that Cotto got from the WBC to fight Martinez. When Cotto made that deal with the WBC he understood that *after one optional fight, he then had to fight the winner of Rubio/Golovkin sometime this year. Cotto made that deal with the WBC in order to get the opportunity against Martinez. Or else Martinez would have probably fought somebody else or fought Golovkin. *Now that Cotto has to live up to that arrangement he is not being honorable. He is backing out because he is being a diva. He fights Geale and doesn’t fight the winner of Golovkin/Rubio. So what does that say about Cotto’s word.

Did Roc send a counter offer to K2 and get shot down? We dont know any of that, so its all speculation. All we know is that GGG said "lets do 50-50 on money and 50-50 on weight". What happened after that (if anything) none of us knows.....
No, the article stated exactly what happened.....

" A source with knowledge of the situation has advised BoxingScene.com that a potential fight between Andre Ward and Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin is being held up by the weight.

From what BoxingScene was told, Golovkin's side is insisting on a catch-weight of 164-pounds.

There have been conversations between Roc Nation Sports (who have Ward) and K2 Promotions (who have Golovkin), but those discussions have gone absolutely nowhere because the two sides are unable to get past the issue of weight..........
      "

There were initial discussions between Roc Nation and K2, but the discussions did not evolve into a negotiation because K2 refused to move on the weight.

Team Golovkin want nothing to do with Andre Ward.

        I agree !

We really only disagree on 1 or 2 small points.

        My issue is this.....

FACT: Cotto is obviously not a middleweight

I dont give a shht about his worthless strap, or even more worthless lineage.

Cotto accidentally picked the WBC middleweight strap, and lineage, by winning a money fight against Martinez.

FACT: Cotto is obviously not a middleweight

I can provide an extremely detailed explanation as to why I have little/no regard for ABC straps, or lineage, but I'm sure you already know/understand. All I should need to say is this.....

        1) the WBC do not rate Wladimir Klitschko in their top 10, so why should I rate them?

        2) the lineal MW champion is Miguel Cotto, but the best MW is Golovkin (do you think that Stevenson is the best LHW? and, I can provide many other examples where the lineal champ is NOT the best in the division).

Regarding middleweight specifically..... the last 5 CONSECUTIVE lineal middleweight champions were NOT the best guy in the division at that point in time.

Lineage, and ABC straps..... are completely worthless.

I know who the best guy is in every division, I dont need worthless titles/accolades muddying the waters.

All I want is a fair fight !

If it is acceptable for the supposed killer Golovkin (who has adopted a marketing strategy stating that he will fight anyone from 154-168, and has called out Froch/Chavez at 168) to demand a catchweight from Andre Ward..... then Golovkin will most certainly have to chew lettuce for 153lb Cotto.

ABC straps are bullshht, and Cotto's scales read 153.

FACT: Cotto is obviously not a middleweight

Then GGG will have every middle weight belt in the world after he beats Lemieux. Then Canelo will fight GGG next year for all the marbles because it is more than likely that Canelo will beat Cotto
Demanding 164 from Andre Ward, is blatantly ducking him, no question.

K2 should just come out and say that they dont want none of Ward.

I am not 100% convinced that they want anything to do with Cotto either.

Cotto stated this..... " every middleweight fight will be at catchweight ".

Then, Team Golovkin immediately stated this..... " no catchweight for Cotto ".

It appears that Team Golovkin would rather fight {insert bum here} for Cotto's title, rather than fight Cotto at catchweight.

Either way, demanding a catchweight from Ward while refusing to negotiate a catchweight with little 153lb Cotto makes Golovkin look like a protected fighter to me.

He is certainly no killer, or P4P star, like they try to make out.

When you are not prepared to fight Erislandy Lara, you sure as hell need to keep Andre Wards name out of your mouth.

So, Golovkin is being a b1tch, because he can ?

            Gotcha ^^

            • GGG is no better than Pac,Floyd,Cotto,Canelo,Ward, etc. in this respect and I am no longer buying the "everybody is ducking him" line, either.

He'll fight Froch at 168 but Ward has to be at 164 yet he won't go down any for Canelo or Cotto (a much smaller guy) and he has one potential fight from a guy who is willing to move up to meet him and would be the best name on his resume (Lara), but he won't fight him.

He really looks to me like the real deal, but I've been fooled before.

His resume' is what it is.

Maybe dude is all smoke and mirrors.

I think he is more, but to me boxing is like the nightswatch in Game of Thrones..... "you get what you have earned, when you have earned it".

Currently, it does not appear that Golovkin is willing to fight risky opponents.

Like you said, his resume' is what it is.
