Is it now safe to say that Mayweather is the greatest fighter of his generation?

When the dust settles that will be decided, and not by fanboys. However I think that Floyd's aversion to risk will hurt his legacy in the long run. When you think of great fighters you think of the great things they did like Ali knocking a prime and ferocious Foreman, Duran moving up and beating a prime Leonard, Mayweather has never had a moment or fight like that, in fact there have been very few fights where he hasn't been the favorite. A question to ponder on, is Iran Barkley a great win in a resume? Not really, but when Duran moved up to fight him at 160 with no catchweights, no draining(When Barkley was a huge middleweight and Duran was at best a bloated welter) and when he had just knocked out Tommy Hearts it became a great win because of the circumstances. Any sensible person can see that because of the same reasons a lot of Floyd's wins are diluted from value, if he had beat the Pacquiao that had freshly decimated Cotto and not the one that was 3 fights removed from a brutal and potentially career ending KO the win would be a hundred times more significant. This is the truth and it will present itself in time, like I said when the dust settles.

          Unlikely.

If anything he will be overrated as time passes.

Exactly. People saying he won't be remembered. Quite the opposite.

I will always remember how boring his fights were and how he never fought anyone in their prime that was a real threat to him.
