The more I think of it though, the more OK I am with the idea of a Mayweather/Cotto rematch. The timing is awkward though with the Canelo fight being in Nov and May's last fight being in September.
    Agree here.

Feel free to agree, just be man enough to admit that the best refused to fight Floyd in their primes.

Refuse might be too strong in Cotto's case. I believe the term was "not ready yet". All I am asking is we not revise history to fit it into a narrow and inaccurate description of Floyd's opposition.

Cotto said that in 2008? I think you'll find Floyd said "Im retiring".

Yes, Floyd did retire at that time to heal his hands, according to him. I think he did it to let others build there names and make fights more lucrative.

He did it because the WW division had frightening opposition at the time. He wanted to see them beat each other up and what played out so he could "pick" his way back into the fray.

Dude, please do not regurgitate nonsense you have seen from others just to discredit Floyd.

I get that you and others like to bring Floyd back to the pack by giving boxers a "bump" provided they haven't fought Floyd rather than assess them based on what they actually did.

Well... that's exactly what Floyd did though. He "retired" when the WW division was absolutely loaded. Mosley legit turned down a fight with Floyd, so him not getting a shot until he was well past it was his own fault, not Floyds. But I'm sure Floyd was fine with Margarito and Cotto beating the snot out of each other.

Then again, he wouldn't have fought them anyway. They were both with Top Rank.
