I'm not talking about when he was with Arum though. I'm talking about after Cotto beat Mosley and Mayweather beat Hatton the following month.

The fight was there to be made and would have been huge.

Yes but to act like Floyd's case wasn't different makes little sense.

Well he came right back and fought Mosley and Cotto....remember Mosley was the one not wanting to fight Mayweather.....

Come on man, Cotto had taken two savage beatings and Pacquiao had been put to sleep once Mayweather got to them. If you don't think that makes a difference in the legacy aspect then you are deluding yourself. There is a reason why Leonard's win over Hagler isn't as heralded as some think it should be.
Are we going to act like Mayweather is prime man?

If Floyd wanted to make the fight he could have. Just like he did with the Pacquiao fight recently. In business, you often work with people you don't like if it makes you a **** ton of money.

These are direct effects of punishing gym wars and fights. All the classic signs of ring wear.

Some fighters like Wilfred Benitez were completely shot at 26, others like Hopkins are still competitive well into their late 40's.

You also see fighter mentality change after they have been beaten into submitting.

Lets not fool ourselves though. Cotto is a shot fighter. He is fighting the carefully hand selected route to mask his diminished skills. One tool is to fight bigger slower fighters, so that his reflexes are able to keep up, hence the move to 160, 2nd is pick on fighter at that weight that are themselves long in the tooth.

He had wars that took it out of him.

Chavez Sr. Still looks good on the bag and in an exhibition or two, don't let that fool you.
Cotto is far from shot.............do people know what shot means?

Didn't disagree. I just think given the situation between Floyd and Bob at the time, the fight wasn't going to happen. A short time before this, Bob felt there wasn't going to be enough revenue to pay Floyd what he wanted.

If people hold that against Floyd given the facts and the real situation, so be it.

The cards were not on the table then man, even Cotto admitted this so i have no idea what the argument is about, soon at he left Top Rank the fight was instantly made,i mean instantly

Posters do not like to admit that there is a reason big name fighters wait to fight Floyd.

Look at May 2nd now imagine the fight 5 years before this? Does Manny go on to make the purses he was after that type of performance? Possible, but I highly doubt it. What about Shane, ODH, Cotto?

What boxer is willing to risk being made to look like a rank amateur right when their earning potential is at its highest?
