True he shouldn't have to beat cotto twice to prove anything. Hiwever he is fight once or twice more so the question becomen why not fight him? What's his alternatives. Thurman, garcia, khan, brook etc? None of those guys stand a prayer against floyd. Cotto would get floyd bloody hell and stands a good chance of winning. So why not add one last compelling match up another belt another division and many more millions compared to those other no hopers?Floyd did fight Cotto eventually though and he fought Cotto at Cotto's weight of 154. I don't think there was any point in time when Mayweather would not beat Cotto at any weight Cotto wanted to fight at. Mayweather should have shown Canelo the same courtesy and fought Canelo at 154. Now that Mayweather's age is starting to show and Cotto is looking so good with Roach, Cotto might beat Mayweather at 154. But Cotto is fighting Canelo and Mayweather shouldn't have to beat Cotto twice.
Me for one would rather spend my cash watching floyd in another good fight as opposed to him just going through the motions collecting another 32 million Check at my expense.Comment

Humm. That's fair. Sad is that it could very well be true. However I remember the vibe back then and cotto was a beast then. One could not help but to think the retirement was suspect. Plus it's very Damn hard to blow 15-20 mil in a year Even for mayweather.Comment

It comes from an ESPN interview that was chopped up to ridicule Floyd. The full interview was taken down because of copyright issues. Floyd says Miguel Cotto lives in Puerto Rico but doesn't even have a big fanbase or big fan support from PR (Cotto's PPV's at the time were topping only 200k). The video chopped up where Floyd says Cotto lives in Puerto Rico, and used as a reason by his haters as to why he wouldn't fight Cotto.
In the same exact interview, Floyd tells Cotto that if he wants to fight then come talk to him, he is his own boss. "If you want to talk to someone, talk to me", referring to Arum being Cotto's boss, notice the haters didn't add that part of the interview to their video. It's impossible to find the interview now, ESPN took it down years ago.Comment
