I don't see what that has to do with anything. There was no cold war at the time.

Cotto admitted what? If Floyd wanted to make that fight, he could have made it. Floyd chose to retire. That's on him, no one else.

Look at May 2nd now imagine the fight 5 years before this? Does Manny go on to make the purses he was after that type of performance? Possible, but I highly doubt it. What about Shane, ODH, Cotto?

What boxer is willing to risk being made to look like a rank amateur right when their earning potential is at its highest?
He gets blamed for any fight not happening

Shane-turned the fight down live on television

Manny-turned the fight down over drug testing

Cotto-fight was never on the table

Margarito-Even Arum said Floyd would have made the fight but he wanted Floyd to sign an extension but Floyd wanted guarantees

Now is Floyd a diva at the negotiating table?? HELL YES HE IS,but to say he fears a fighter is ridiculous, you pay the man and he fights them

He came back and apparently wanted to do business with Arum on the Pacquiao fight in 2009. So why was he "not doing business" with Arum in 2008?

Floyd retired. That's the end of it. If he'd wanted to make the Cotto fight, he would have.

I agree he did retire as i stated before, and it is a 2 way street and Cotto also never pursued that fight

The facts disagree with you; (link):

Most people believe this fight against Mayweather should have taken place five years ago. From your point of view, why hasn't it happened until now?

First of all, I'm always available to face everyone. My feeling is that if the fight didn't happen before, then it wasn't right for my case [at the time]. It is available now and will happen this year on Saturday, May 5, so I am going to be prepared.

Was the Mayweather fight one that you pushed for through the years at any point behind the scenes with Bob Arum?

I never pushed for it at any time before. I would just see what is the best fight that I can get fight by fight. This one is the best one for me now. This is the best chapter in my career so far.

What fight has Cotto "pursued"? You keep saying he didn't "call out" Floyd like it means something. He never calls out anyone.

Floyd, as you remind us, was apparently his own boss and if he had made a play to fight Cotto, the fight could have got made. Instead he retired.

It should've been clear he wouldn't be fighting Top Rank fighters anytime soon. You expect Mickey Garcia to fight Top Rank fighters soon after he leaves? What about Chavez Jr? Cotto himself didn't do business with Top Rank for several fights after departing. Matter of fact, I don't think Cotto has even fought any Top Rank fighters since leaving.

Negotiations with Pacquiao is an exception to the rule because that was the biggest fight to be made in boxing history, even back then.
