The first fight I said Cotto would lose but give Floyd his toughest fight. I know boxing, at very least I know Cotto and Floyd, seen nearly every one of their fights. In a rematch, I would take Cotto. Sadly, I don't know if it will ever happen. The only way it does if it Cotto beats Canelo and then, maybe, we'll get Floyd/Cotto II for the MW title and Floyd going 50-0 in May.

Cotto declined in 2005 when he had 23 fights.

Floyd calling out Cotto at 140 is a joke. It was the same as Floyd fighting Ortiz or Canelo. He fought them while their stock was high and their skills were low. He tried the same thing with Cotto and someone told him no, good. As stated calling out a guy who's not ready is not ballsy, it's b*tchy.

I think it was due to him being with top rank. Arum and Floyd detested each other. Once cotto contract was up, fight was made immediately thereafter. Doesn't mean Floyd wanted a piece of cotto when he conveniently took a temporary retirement though.

But if anyone can find the actual interview video please post. I don't like "choppy" interviews (meaning edited to fit ones pov)
Is not available, I've look it up from quite some time now and has been taken off. I wonder Why. The only version available was edited. The full version is nowhere to be found.

I don't know how someone who is a fan of the sport pretend it "doesn't matter" if you fight a guy in his prime or not. Ridiculous.

See my previous posts. At 140 floyd said cotto was too green (link included)

After floyds gatti fight he moved up & fought sharmba mitchell at ww. Then the judah, baldomir fights at ww after mitchell. If I remember correctly, floyd bought out his contract April 06.

                Link?

no thats not what matters. What matters is they never fought eachother in their primes, so floyd waited to fight someone after they have been KOd or lost or past prime like always.

Even with Mayweather not necessarily fighting guys at their very best, his resume is hard to completely discredit. Not TBE, but still an ATG.

The more I think of it though, the more OK I am with the idea of a Mayweather/Cotto rematch. The timing is awkward though with the Canelo fight being in Nov and May's last fight being in September.

Can someone explain how one fighter can be in his prime and another can't or wouldn't have been.

Here's where I'm going with this .... Examples:

Floyd avoided Manny while he was in his prime.
                      Floyd: 1977-02-24
                      Manny: 1978-12-17

So based on birth dates, no matter when they fought Floyd would have still been a year older than Manny. And if Manny was in his prime, then Floyd would have been in his prime as well.

Floyd avoided Cotto while he was in his prime.
                      Floyd: 1977-02-24
                      Cotto: 1980-10-29

Again, based on birth dates, no matter when they fought Floyd would have still been older than Cotto. And if Cotto was in his prime, then Floyd would have still been in his prime as well.

                      *******

So, can someone explain the logic behind those statements (I won't insult here) that one fighter can be in his prime, while the other fighter wouldn't have been, especially since their ages are so close. If either Manny or Cotto fought the younger version of Floyd that was torching his opponents, how would they have fared better, when they still got beat soundly by the old Floyd?

I mean, it sounds kind of ridiculous when someone makes these statements that obviously defy logic.
