I think GGG's competition gets routinely overly-discredited. He makes them look like they're insignificant by stopping them, but there have been multiple very high level guys in with GGG. There just hasn't been any huge rockstar/rich/famous boxers to fight him yet. Hopefully we see it soon though.

In a typical gym the 80th ranked middleweight in the world is going to make all of the best dudes around look average and lost in sparring; much less guys at the level of Murray, Monroe, Geale, even Macklin. These guys are definitely not part timers.

Didn't he give up his belt to avoid Killer Korabov?
Didn't he miss out on the biggest proposed payday of his career?
Did he look great against Lee?
Is he hiding behind Haymon ... still?

It's hard to defend Quillen but if you feel up to it then give it ago.
No need to change the subject. The fact is GGG's resume is very thin. The names he has beaten he was a the overwhelming favorite. His fans, like you would point that out if the discussion was about another MW. When its GGG, you focus solely on the fact he wins by KO.

Beating Murray/Monroe is not an accomplishment that should garner recognition IMO.

Now he is expected to do it but when he was on KO number 11 or 12 not so much so. Geale was a step-up from the likes of Stevens and Macklin and Murray was a step up from Geale and many predicted he would last due to his toughness. If you remember, there were quite a few who predicted that the Monroe fight would go to a decision because of his slick style.

So no, he hasn't been expected to beat all of his opponents senseless but as fights go by the expectancy increases as it becomes the norm.

And yes it is compelling judging by sell out shows and exponential increase in tv ratings.

Those were GGG fans looking to make these opponents tougher because GGG was such a heavy favorite. He absolutely has been the big favorite in his last 12 fights.

            SO Deontay Wilder is compelling?

His resume is not very thin. It is a medium-strong resume lacking a big name - it could be better by now if he weren't so avoided.

Why is he so avoided? Because the likes of Cotto, Quillen, Canelo and Froch see a very high risk/low reward scenario. If they all thought he was just knocking out cans as you and many other posters on here make out then why their trepidation regards fighting him if he is not all that?
At least the other fighters give him a lot of credit for fighting these 'non-en******' like Geale and Murray.

It's not that I focus 'just' on GGG's KO wins. I do recognize and like slick boxers .... BUT .... once again, the reason why there is so much deserved hype around Golovkin is that for most fight fans, if not you, watching a KO artist is far more compelling than watching the likes of Lara.

Come on, if Froch-GGG gets made and shows same date same time as Ward-Andre.Dirrell which fight will attract more viewers?

The first Wilder fight I tuned into was the Stiverne one. So I can only speak for myself but the answer until then was no. Same reason I am not interested too much in watching Joshua and Parker's fights. They really are/were being drip fed over-matched fighters to give them more experience. I watch them if I can.

You can't compare contenders like Geale, Macklin and Murray who had all either fought for or won world championships with Wilder's comp pre-Stiverne.

                  Was Fonfara really an upset?

Man, GGG taking a lot of heat in here. The few Mayweather fans who haven't already recently jumped on the Ward band wagon will do soon now.

All GGG has to do now is wax Andre Ward and he's fighter of the Year.

IMO it shoulda been Terence Crawford as Co-fighter of the 1/2 year.
