Not quite sure why this seems to get under everyone's skin so much. I have never meet anyone that was great at anything that did not have a huge ego driving them. It is to be accepted. As an athlete you can tell yourself your the best in the current contenders in your time, but to anoint yourself you better than others in a different time who were legends of the game that's blasphemy.
