Stevenson has gained scorn and ridicule from true boxing fans the world over. From casual fans and nut-huggers, he has gained...empathy and sympathy.
What has Stevenson gained thus far by signing with Haymon?

I don't know how much you think the fight is worth now compared to then. It's not Mayweather-Pacquaio. How long do you accept "building a fight"? When they fought on the same card a couple of years ago - that was designed to build the fight. It could always in theory become bigger. So why not have both of them KO some bums until 2016 or 2017 when it will really be at it's apex!
Plus, like I keep saying, Kovalev and Duva are going to be coming from a much stronger position now that they've actually put work in. In the first round of negotiations, they were willing to take the short end of the money. Now....not so much.
As for Stevenson, his stock has dropped after that ****ty display against Fonfara and the fact that no one is watching him fight.Last edited by Dirk Diggler UK; 03-16-2015, 10:40 AM.Comment

We established a long time ago, I do not care what you think. I don't like you and I don't think you have a single clue what you are talking about if that is how you feel 4 decades into the sport.Well I bloody well do! Thats why I'm not grateful that we are getting Pac-May now as much as I am pissed that we didnt get it when it really mattered to us, not the fighters bank balances. I'm not feeling sorry for millionaires or being understanding about them being in the business of entertaining us and trying to reach the pinnacle of the sport we love, but without actually doing it.
I feel sorry for you~Last edited by The Gambler1981; 03-16-2015, 10:42 AM.Comment

How much was it worth back then? It wasn't worth more than 2 in my opinion.I don't know how much you think the fight is worth now compared to then. It's not Mayweather-Pacquaio. It could be pushing 5, so is being 150% more valuable a worthwhile investment in your eyes?Comment

I don't know what your source is to support that statement Dunn. Kovalev was reported to earn more than $1 million for the Hopkins fight on this very site.No it's not the benchmark. It's simply an answer to the TS question. Kov got that After earning about 150k for the BHop fight. The Kov payday wasn't going to be any bigger than what he got for the showtime fights he's had.
I believe Chavez is now on Haymon's roster. He is fighting fonfara who Stevenson defeated. I would think he'd make a fight with Stevenson before he would either of them. Besides, Froch is acting now.
Why would I be crossing my fingers? You've already stated he gets huge paydays for easy wins. He already got more than he would've for Kov fight twice.
SO its been great for his income, bad in every other way.
NEW YORK – Doubters question whether Sergey Kovalev has been properly prepared in his first 26 professional fights for the challenge he’ll encounter Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Kovalev even admits we’ll have to wait until after he boxes Bernard Hopkins to truly know. One thing is clear, though. Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) genuinely appreciates what is by far the most important opportunity of his five-year pro career – a light heavyweight championship unification fight against the legendary Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs, 2 NC).Comment

Sorry, but that floydy crap wont work with me. You are trying to make a frankly ridiculous point here and making a piss poor job of it. Your motivation here is clear, you're a Haymon/TMT fanboy and thats that.Comment

Glad you think that way, makes me feel great. If it was so easy I should have been easy to take apart, and Dirk is a lot sharper than you and he can't do it.Comment

It wasn't an investment though. And like I said, Stevenson's plan hasn't gone the way he wanted it to. Refer to my previous post. He turned down the Kovalev fight. He ****ed up his planned option against Hopkins and then he managed to mess up a fight with Pascal too. He has lost potential earnings right there.
I don't know what it's worth now but I do know that Stevenson won't be getting the lion's share of the purse any more. Will he swallow his pride and accept that or feel he's entitled to more?Comment

Yes I did. Did you see where after he paid all his fees, taxes etc that he was left with about a quarter of that?I don't know what your source is to support that statement Dunn. Kovalev was reported to earn more than $1 million for the Hopkins fight on this very site.

Sergey Kovalev, in defending against one of his mandatory challengers, is giving Jean Pascal the opportunity to fight for three world titles. Pascal, who meets Kovalev in Montreal on March 14, says he’s happy to be giving Kovalev something in return. “I’m really, really glad to give Kovalev his first real payday, because I think he got underpaid by his people, because after like 23 fights [Kovalev’s had 27], it’s his first real payday,” Pascal said on a Feb. 24 media conference call. “After his fight against Hopkins, I think he got only 100k, something like that, and that’s very, very bad for a champion of his caliber. I think Kovalev deserves way more money, a lot of money, and I’m very glad that I’m giving him this opportunity.”
I should have posted his take from the Bernard fight and not his purse-my mistake.Comment
