He stood as champ making good money fighting non-relavent fighters.

He is around 40 and if he loses to Kov he won't make any serious money after that

A bolt of lighting could fell Stevenson on the way to the ring to fight Kovalev, or a congenital heart defect could slay Kovalev in his minivan.

By any means necessary, the sport is too cruel a game to be playing for anything other than keeps.

Kovalev might, but Kovalev probably would want to beat his ass for a career high payday, if they can't work it out that would be a shame.

I agree which is why I'll never understand why a fighter would turn down their highest purse when its presented to them on the table to take the gamble that they MIGHT get more in the future.

Kovalev and Duva probably will think they've earned the right to the majority of the purse now. And they'd be well within their rights to think that. So in the end, Adonis might not get that much more than what he was originally offered.

I am not making decision for them and a fighter can really make what they want of their career. If they don't want to impress me that is their choice, if they want to impress me sometimes that is cool, if they want to impress every time out good for them.

I watch all fights, I form an opinion on them then watch to see if I am right or wrong about that specific fight. This way I am not stuck pining for things that may never happen, I enjoy what there is.
Well, you're easily pleased I guess. I have always been of the opinion that boxing can and should do better. As a fan of the sport across nearly four decades I have never found the sport so damn frustrating. Avoiding threats is now the norm, whereas it used to be about facing them. It kicks fans in the nuts and it sucks.

I told you, to do the fight at the correct time maximizing his earning. Kovalev was worth roughly what he was getting paid to fight these schleps. That isn't even risking anything, that is biding your time getting paid.

A gamble is fighting a risky guy like Kovalev for equal money to a scrub in hope you win to get a big pay off after. Waiting on a fight to grow ripe is not the same thing at all, and the fight is ripe now. It hasn't even been that long in terms of boxing fights that got put off, so please spare me the outrage.

Well they would have to make the fight happen if they want their big payday, they can play hardball for sure but risks come with that because the division is rather bare for them without that fight. That is the game though, plans fall apart all the time and Bika could upset the apple cart before it even hits the road not liek that hasn't happened before in boxing.

It's not like Stevenson's big master plan is even working. His reasoning for turning down Kovalev was supposedly to get the Hopkins fight. I would have been fine with that if it happened but he ***ed himself over and lost out on that payday

He then lost out on the Pascal payday which Kovalev has now picked up and ruined for him.

So yeah....he's lost quite a bit of potential earnings but it's ok doe cos he's getting overpaid to fight bums

Right now that fight is as ripe as it is ever going to get. If Steveson gets a fantastic KO against Bika who is a very tough dude it is going to be the biggest that match up is going to get.

Some ppl here don't let fights build up.

I never expect anything out of boxing~ that is the lesson I have learned in my three decades on Earth in relation to this sport.

Well I bloody well do! Thats why I'm not grateful that we are getting Pac-May now as much as I am pissed that we didnt get it when it really mattered to us, not the fighters bank balances. I'm not feeling sorry for millionaires or being understanding about them being in the business of entertaining us and trying to reach the pinnacle of the sport we love, but without actually doing it or even attempting to.
