Canelo has no identity as a fighter. Who is he? I guess he's a boxer/puncher but he doesn't really go after guys like that, he doesn't really box too much either. A lot of what he does in the ring is wasted aggression. He needs to find himself. And for yhst, he would need an elite trainer, which he doesn't have.

I'm class him as boxer/counter puncher.

Some Irish guy who speaks Spanish and is sort of a counter puncher.

Speed of hand, boxing ability, ring smarts, can adjust, can take a punch, can cut off the ring AND has power. Ducks and dodges no one. Yes, he is and yes he's the future of this sport.

Have to disagree. Fast hands? Yes. Good power? I feel it's a bit overrated. Decent counter puncher.

Chin is good, but ability to adjust and boxing IQ? No and no.

He can't cut off a ring either. At 160 he is going to have big problems.

Canelo's main problem along with his stamina, is his flat feet.

He is cement footed, I think it's probably genetic or something he probably doesn't have arched feet like I do.

But he is very young and has good fundamentals.

He needs a new coach who will call the shots and let him know who is the boss, he needs to train more like a wild animal like all the greats.

And a major thing he needs to do is stop putting so much force into every punch, he needs to throw more scoring punches and save those power punches for the right moments, that's a major factor imo, he fights like Bradley did in the PAC rematch EVERY FIGHT.

After 5 fights at 160, where he belongs, against decent opposition, I will make a call. For now, I see a solid fighter with good skills but untested in certain areas. Can he pick up new skills..aka movement? How will he react when he gets hit by a true puncher of his own size or bigger? How strong is he psychologicaly? Can he learn to make adjustments through a fight he is losing? I still have lots of questions but all could be answered positively in the perfect world, we shall see!!!
