Wrong. Floyd stood right in front of Shane and those punches were up close. While hurt, Floyd still didnt care. Came forward!

Yes he did. More than Mayweather I would add. After Duran and Hearns especially. He definitely influenced many runners later on.

Boxing is a game of chess not checkers, It's not about standing up, brawling or trading punches. Fighters who can't play chess usually don't last long in the high levels of the sport
              So many clichés here....

There are fighters that flat out run and are not doing much of an art form. DLH vs Tito, Mayweather often in the final round when he's well ahead, etc. Fighters usually lose the round for this but that doesn't matter if they're ahead, though an additional point off more often may make more of a difference and stop this spoiling tactic that probably hurts the sport as well.

You guys act as if rounds are constanly won without throwing punches.

That is not the reality , Lara outlanded Canelo, just to name one fight. So now somebody will say "yes, but they were jabs". So one should deduct points for landing jabs?.

There is only a -legend- of Locche winning one round without throwing punches, and that's about it.

The reason why many brawlers lose rounds is not because their opponents "run" but because of little to no head movement, no defense, and a tendency to head hunt a more mobile guy, with the only result of getting pot shotted all night.

points are taken away for running, you can get DQed even.

you dont see it because it never gets to that degree at any kind of level. people just dont know what running really is, any time a guy moves they think he is running. running for half a second to get out of a corner isnt enough to have points taken away, you would have to be running all the time and not fighting as opposed to moving when it serves a purpose and picking your spots to punch (boxing in other words). people around here think someone runs any time they move or dont trade. as long as you are trying to land shots you can move as much as you want and its never running. true running very seldom happens, if and when it does points are usually taken away.

I have never seen points taken away for running in this modern era. In past eras, I don't see any running. Watch the old fights. They don't do it. That will show you the difference.
