excessive clinching is a far bigger problem than actual literal running.

excessive clinching is an epidemic and is a far more egregious crime than perceived running.

It is also a foul that gets punished with point deductions. When is the last time you saw a fighter get points taken away for running?

What boxing needs is competent judges, not rule changes to appease the bloodthirsty crowd.
        /thread. Agree with this.

Classic case of running here. Points taken away would have made it more interesting or gotten Gainer DQ'd to end the farce.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_xwj-ozfs4

Depends how you define evading punches, and merely running with no offensive output. But then, what if you are hurt and 'running' while you recover? True, your legs are gone and you probably move slowly, but still, I assume by running we mean just avoiding engaging as a whole. Yes, runners with no desire to throw punches should be warned and deducted points, just like ovely excessive clinching or other foul play.

That's exactly what I mean. You hit the nail on the head.

Mayweather-Baldomir is a prime example. The commentary got it right. A true champion would have tried harder to give the fans their money's worth.

Very rarely is clinching punished, Alexander initiated a mind boggling 152 clinches vs Maidana and got non deductions whereas as Khan who was champion lost 2 freakin points for pushing. Bollocks
