i'm not going to bash guys from early eras. I watched lots of the fights over time. In ali's era they fought 15 rounds & were very active fighters. the last 10-15 years HWs fought 2 maybe 3 times maximum. HW champions sometimes only fight once/year now. I have worked with many older gentlemen from different countries who watch boxing back in the Ali era & still to this day. Most of them don't talk trash today's era but what I hear over & over was the depth back then & everyone fought each other. there wasn't 4 belts to go around so the best fought each other & sometimes more then once. Anything can happen in HW boxing. Sometimes guys find that one opponent who is their kryptonite. Joe Frazier could beat almost everybody & had wars with Ali but he'd get his butt kicked by foreman whereas Ali beat Foreman. I was not around in the Ali era but other then Tyson nobody made more headlines then him. Ali & Tyson are the only 2 HWs that everyone knew worldwide even if they didn't watch boxing. They were on the front pages of news papers around the world...

Yeah I'm sure that Vitali was ducking STIVERNE ROFL. Stiverne is a nobody, he's Chisora lite. Even a modern day Chisora would have won that belt against that overweight Mexican.
He's just sorted out his promotional issues but even before that he already eastablished himself as the best in his division, can't he take time off? He also came back from a bad injury, maybe he should have taken 5 years off like Vitali right? If golivkin and kovalev want it, andre ward is there at 168. Also golivkin said not too long ago he wasn't ready for ward. Ward is the champion, he doesn't need to leave Oakland.

And yet you think wilder was ducking Vitali? When did Vitali even say he wanted to fight wilder? Wlad said he wants to fight him and wilder has said he'll fight him by this year or early next year.

Soviet/Russian boxing style isn't really hit and run in my experience. Its more based on effective intelligent aggression. They value being able to come forward and counter. Obviously every fighter is different but you dont see as many russians hitting and running as cubans for example.

I didn't say they were hit and run, but their style was and to some extent is still based on point scoring.

That's why you'll see straight lines, jabs and one-twos. Because that's the soviet system and it obviously is very very effective in the amateurs. They often stay amateur until their late 20s, so sometimes take that style into the pro ranks. Some have more success than others, but they generally make great amateur fighters.

How about this I am a white Italian from Brooklyn New York I am in my 30's and I used to box. I love boxing and I give credit where it is due. Your a troll who lacks knowledge of the sport and speaks from what he THINKS he knows and I use the term THINKS very loosely. You can't even spell favorite correctly. I give Wlad credit if they had a hugging contest he would win a PLATINUM medal. He has a good jab, right hand combo, he moves well for his size and cuts off the ring. I think his brother was better then he ever was or will be. That being said Vitali lost to Lennox who in my eyes is TOP 10 behind guys like Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Frazier, Marciano. As someone else said those men fought more often and for one belt.

In 1972 Ali fought 6 times........When was the last time any Heavy Weight fought 6 times in one year? Do you know what kind of a toll that takes on your hands your body etc? They also fought 15 rounds back in that era of boxing. It is like playing today's football with leather helmets....

You've outdone yourself with that post Lefty...

Wladimir's fight frequency, taken over whole career, is one of his HALLMARK attributes! The problem is is that you are focussing on his performance only in his champion years. Obviously at that level you can't fight more than 3 times a year at most!

In Ali, Marciano or whatevers day, the champs and the top contenders were themselves cruisers and themselves BUMS! Of COURSE they could fight more often.

If Wladimir was allowed to line up 20 bummy cruisers in a row he could KO every single one of them at the rate of 1 a night. Obviously!

15 rounds is a sign of weakness to win by KO! And the more rounds, the weaker the punches and the smaller the boxers. You covert failure into virtue!

Favourite is spelled like that in Europe and Australia and England (where the word originated). Just like everything else, boxing, spelling etc, Americans are the laziest of all and can't even spell words fully. Just like colour, too lazy to put the u in there!

You rate guys above WK, VK and LL who would never even suffice as sparring partners, let alone credible opponents.

For that reason you have totally exposed yourself as a ****** and nothing you say from now on has any credibility to any objective poster who happened to read the rubbish that you wrote. So I'm content with that.

Anybody who supports your rubbish, is a nut bag!

wlad's a fraud. he got knocked silly over and over, developed a style based on clinching nonstop, had to cheat to dominate a weak era.
