Didn't the last American who challenged for the heavyweight gold in Russia get robbed? I realise Rigondeaux wouldn't get close to what wilder is being offered but Wilder makes so much more then Rigondeaux anyway and on his way to earning so much more. Wilder looks like a very exciting fighter, he should milk his title for another year or two and then take on Wlad when he's old. If he pulls that off he could be making 20 mil a night fighting whoever the f he wants.

He can't do that though, because Povetkin is WBC mandatory - he has to fight him, possibly even this year.

The other question is whether he can "milk the title" to the tune of $10 million. It's questionable, and he would risk losing.

It's actually hard to believe Deontay himself would turn down $10 million, but the Russians do have a history of paying a lot for heavyweights so the offer is believable for their top HW vs America's top HW.

I feel the same way, but that other guy was actually encouraging it, which is a major problem. Fans on this site, maybe in general, treat boxing like a popularity contest and want their fighter to be the "in" guy which is why they support every **** decision they make. It's embarrassing.

Yeah I understand. My thoughts are if you win a belt your time as a prospect is over. I criticized Canelo for that and I'll critisize Wilder if he doesn't at least fight someone in the top 3 within his next two fights. I can understand a voluntary defense but even that should be an opponent somewhere in the top 10.
