Like milking a strap is some new concept. Why is anyone shocked that Wilder isn't going to fight in Russia for his first defense? He is going to get ****** money fighting cans.

But it's funny that people would actually defend turning this down.

Those Russians did pay ridiculous money for Wlad-Povetkin. Bring an American Heavyweight over to fight a Russian would be big there.

Isn't Povetkin the mandatory anyway after sparking Takam? That said Tyson Fury won a few final eliminators and so on too.

I wanna see him in there with Povetkin.

But I believe they want to fight Fury while he is undefeated before Klitschko takes his 0.

And then after beating Fury, go for guys Klitschko has already beaten like Povetkin.

He has already stated he'd go back to Ireland for it. Like the Povetkin situation he and his team realise Frampton is the money man and the fight would sell better in Ireland than anywhere else.
A true champion would not turn that down, they would say I'd fight the guy in his own back garden with his mum, dad and Aunt Sheila judging for 10 million!

I see your point but we are talking about 10 million dollars here. If someone offers you that, you don't sit humming and haring, you bite their hand off for that! I do kind of see what you're saying but then I don't and see noway he comes close to making that much especially for one fight regardless who he beats, where he fights and so on
10 mill almost sounds to good to be true, I can't see them offering more down the line. If someone turned down my 10 mill then came back, they'd be getting told where to go.
Didn't the last American who challenged for the heavyweight gold in Russia get robbed? I realise Rigondeaux wouldn't get close to what wilder is being offered but Wilder makes so much more then Rigondeaux anyway and on his way to earning so much more. Wilder looks like a very exciting fighter, he should milk his title for another year or two and then take on Wlad when he's old. If he pulls that off he could be making 20 mil a night fighting whoever the f he wants.

The same with Canelo. So let's not pretend this is something new. Nobody recognizes Wilder as the true champion anyway so from his teams perspective they are going to take advantage of whatever is in Wilder's best interest. Just like the other fighters did.

Do I like it? No. Do I understand it? Yes.

I've also clearly stated Wilder should fight a top three fighter at the minimum.
I feel the same way, but that other guy was actually encouraging it, which is a major problem. Fans on this site, maybe in general, treat boxing like a popularity contest and want their fighter to be the "in" guy which is why they support every **** decision they make. It's embarrassing.

If the Russians are already flashing this much cash Wilder's direction two weeks after he fights, they're not gonna stop. This is the only heavyweight belt you don't have to go through Wlad to get. I think there is nothing wrong with saying no to the first offer thrown your way. He should turn around and say he wants $15 million. It is just bad practice to accept the first offer that comes your way.

Wilder is still very much a work in progress, not sure why he turned the fight down but it's a fight I think he COULD win.
