Russian businessman Andrey Ryabinsky put up the money. It dwarfed bids made by K2 Promotions ($7,130,000) and Povetkin promoter Sauerland Event ($6,014,444), and it allowed Ryabinsky to dictate the location of the fight and guaranteed the fighters the biggest purses of their careers. Based on being entitled to 75 percent of the winning bid, Klitschko got $17,499,997, while Povetkin received $5,833,333 (25 percent). [4]
      ^^^ This is accurate...

Wlad got at least a $17.5 million purse in the Povetkin fight... (I don't know what other revenues emerged in Ukraine or Germany)...

Do a home defense but against someone good and I am cool.

I feel like the top WBC guys are Povetkin, Fury, and Glasov.

Any of those three would be great as Jennings will be busy preparing to get beat up by Wlad.
I want him to fight the best too, but I think going into Russia with the deck stacked against you for your first defense seems kind of silly. I have no problem with a victory lap against one of the top American guys in a few months before fighting a mandatory. Yeah, they're throwing a lot of cash at him (and if it is the same guys as the Wlad fight then it is legit) but there is the unfortunate business side of boxing. Is that heavyweight title worth $10 million right now, or will it be worth significantly more a year from now? Maybe they'll go up to $15 million by the fall, who knows. Just because someone flashes a bunch of cash doesn't mean you should jump at the first offer thrown your way.

they just salty as hell.... So if fury fights wilder, fury is a "bum" lmao not a "top contender" as they were saying before. "povetkin silver champion doe"... so now we pay attention to small alphabet titles??

meh I sort of agree. Wilder can fight two bums this year in the US, make few mills and get his name in media and by the end of the year, travel to Moscow and fight for even more money. why not?

Russia is one of the fairest countries in the world IMHO when it comes to judging. Rigondeaux would go to Ireland and fight him for nowhere near that, probably 1 million. If he turned down 10 million, I'd tell it how it is.
He has already stated he'd go back to Ireland for it. Like the Povetkin situation he and his team realise Frampton is the money man and the fight would sell better in Ireland than anywhere else.
A true champion would not turn that down, they would say I'd fight the guy in his own back garden with his mum, dad and Aunt Sheila judging for 10 million!

I see your point but we are talking about 10 million dollars here. If someone offers you that, you don't sit humming and haring, you bite their hand off for that! I do kind of see what you're saying but then I don't and see noway he comes close to making that much especially for one fight regardless who he beats, where he fights and so on
10 mill almost sounds to good to be true, I can't see them offering more down the line. If someone turned down my 10 mill then came back, they'd be getting told where to go.

what happened to boxing is a business?

is this not a high risk with high reward in the short and long term? if he beats this Russian, then people can say he is for sure the next big thing. takes on all comers and anyone can get it anytime anywhere, unlike klitchko who people have ****ted on for fighting mostly in his own country. haymon can market him like a boogeyman.

Do you even know what a double standard is, BigSpastic973?

10 million dollars more than makes financial sense.
