So Wilder turned down 10M for Povetkin.

Klit be making bank in Russia!
Promoter Vladimir Hryunov won the right to promote the October 5, 2013, fight between Klitschko and Povetkin with a purse bid of $23,333,330, one of the largest in boxing history. Russian businessman Andrey Ryabinsky put up the money. It dwarfed bids made by K2 Promotions ($7,130,000) and Povetkin promoter Sauerland Event ($6,014,444), and it allowed Ryabinsky to dictate the location of the fight and guaranteed the fighters the biggest purses of their careers. Based on being entitled to 75 percent of the winning bid, Klitschko got $17,499,997, while Povetkin received $5,833,333 (25 percent). [4]
Wlad got at least a $17.5 million purse in the Povetkin fight... (I don't know what other revenues emerged in Ukraine or Germany)...Comment

We're not saying tomorrow.
But I don't think he should get a soft touch home defense period.
Do a home defense but against someone good and I am cool.
I feel like the top WBC guys are Povetkin, Fury, and Glasov.
Any of those three would be great as Jennings will be busy preparing to get beat up by Wlad.Comment

Potentially, I have no idea what would be offered. It is a 100,000+ capacity stadium, plus domestic and international TV rights. If Fury or Joshua won a world belt I don't think anyone would expect them on the next flight to Russia to fight Povetkin, but Wilder is supposed to?
they just salty as hell.... So if fury fights wilder, fury is a "bum" lmao not a "top contender" as they were saying before. "povetkin silver champion doe"... so now we pay attention to small alphabet titles??Comment

meh I sort of agree. Wilder can fight two bums this year in the US, make few mills and get his name in media and by the end of the year, travel to Moscow and fight for even more money. why not?Comment

Russia is one of the fairest countries in the world IMHO when it comes to judging. Rigondeaux would go to Ireland and fight him for nowhere near that, probably 1 million. If he turned down 10 million, I'd tell it how it is.
He has already stated he'd go back to Ireland for it. Like the Povetkin situation he and his team realise Frampton is the money man and the fight would sell better in Ireland than anywhere else.
A true champion would not turn that down, they would say I'd fight the guy in his own back garden with his mum, dad and Aunt Sheila judging for 10 million!
I see your point but we are talking about 10 million dollars here. If someone offers you that, you don't sit humming and haring, you bite their hand off for that! I do kind of see what you're saying but then I don't and see noway he comes close to making that much especially for one fight regardless who he beats, where he fights and so on
10 mill almost sounds to good to be true, I can't see them offering more down the line. If someone turned down my 10 mill then came back, they'd be getting told where to go.Last edited by dan_cov; 01-29-2015, 11:27 AM.Comment

what happened to boxing is a business?
is this not a high risk with high reward in the short and long term? if he beats this Russian, then people can say he is for sure the next big thing. takes on all comers and anyone can get it anytime anywhere, unlike klitchko who people have ****ted on for fighting mostly in his own country. haymon can market him like a boogeyman.Comment
