There is a theory where Pacquiao does better against southpaws. Any validity to it?

Me personally, Rigo's style of hit and hold wouldn't work against a fighter like Pacquiao. Pacquiao is faster, more explosive, and has better endurance than Rigo. Pacquiao's upper body and side to side movement would neutralize Rigo's hit and hold technique. I see Rigo trying to box but Manny's shots from weird angles would befuddle Rigo and I see him getting KO'd or losing a wide decision.

As much as I love Pacquiao I voted if they were both 122 pounders Rigo would win a close fight on points. Rigo is younger and still prime while Pacquiao is a little past prime. A prime Pacquiao might beat him. For that matter if Mayweather was a 122 pounder Rigo would beat Mayweather as well. Rigo is great and I don't think anyone today is a better boxer pfp. GGG might win by KO if they were both 122 but not on points. Rigo is nearly impossible to beat on points in my opinion because of his speed, defense and boxing skills.

Super Bantam Pacquaio didn't utilise much lateral movement or zip in and out. He was far more flat-footed and conservative.

Why not take Pacquaio as the super Bantamweight, he actually fought there, Why not take that version? Instead of him as he was when say he fought Oscar and hypothetically shrink him down?

You realise Pacquaio was twice one punch K.Od right before his move down to super bantamweight and dropped many times by total non punchers, right?

Also many had success against him at those weights Agapito Sanchez for one, Skinny Hussein for another.

He was a straight line fighter who didn't throw in combination or move his head at all back then. He was completely left handed and very wild and would often overreach and fall off balance.

Super Bantam Pac was not the same fighter who fought Hatton, Cotto, Oscar or even Marquez. He was a raw kid noway near his peak.
As is usually the case, I agree with Dan.

I think Rigo would beat that left-hand-dependent and weaker version of Pacquiao, probably even stop him with a body shot.

It would be a pretty good fight but Rigondeaux would beat that version of Manny most likely. He would give Rigondeaux issues but that version of Manny would have been much too straight froward for a guy like Rigondeaux.

Rigondeaux would have to work real hard though and if he slips up Manny could crack him.

i always smirk at this kind of comment "style is all wrong for pac", because for me pac is the one who style is all wrong for any body. everybody point to Marquez and Morales as comparison.what, do you think marquez and morales had happy time fighting pacquiao??

So Rigondeaux gets touched more than he was expected to and now he would have beat Manny?
He was more impressive against Agbeko yet there were no Rigo-Pac threads afterwards.

pacquiao would not be left hand happy against a southpaw

he actually has a jab and a right hook vs southpaws

pacquiao is seriously heavy-handed at those weights, and rigondeaux seems esspecially weak chinned with no defense whatsoever if someone gets inside on him, pacquiao would probabley ko him with an overhand after stepping inside while rigo is trying to control his head
