Average life expectancy varies on where you go but a lot of these people who live a hard life training using these supplements don't seem to be offset with it look at Mr Olympians If you want then, steroids are dangerous but just like being punched about in sparring and in an actual competitive fight is as well.
Being a boxer is always a life threat down the line and in the present.

Now boxers more so now more than ever train in with weights they build out certain muscles which are vital for boxers i.e. the Tricep, Neck, Traps, Shoulders and Biceps.
You can't deny the fact that back around the 40s to maybe even the 70s the knowledge in building strength/muscle wasn't what it is to what it started to become in around the 80s and 90s.
Obviously building out muscle isn't going to make you punch like Mike Tyson or make you a great fighter but with the skill sets of a good fighter it can pay dividends.

If the methods haven't changed then why are there now strength and condition coaches and nutritionists advising athletes what to eat and what to do?

I'm not saying its wrong but in the UK the average life expectancy is supposedly 80 or there about. I don't know about you but I know of maybe 2-3 people who have lived beyond that therefore I don't really buy into that as such.. But I'd probably put it down to advances in medicine rather than supplementation.

Is it the right muscle you want to build though? also the more muscle you have the more oxygen it will require. Floyd, Rigondeaux and so on they only lift light weights and maybe some conditioning work. They don't do all this strength work and supersets and all that.

Because its easier to live an unhealthy life today, there are fast food restaurants everywhere, people are lazier with all of todays technology and fatter. A lot of people work from home these days. Its a lot easier to struggle with your weight even as an athlete
They're advising it mainly because it makes them money in short, its their job. They're not going to say you don't need it or anything.

That's it. Wlad and David Haye need to get off of their training regimen's, strength and conditioning program and follow Joe Frazier and Sonny Liston's training routine down pat.

Which "supplements" are you then talking about?

God forbid they had to run 10 miles a day.

David Haye doesn't even run. At least Wlad swims.

LOL! Yeah really, it's not like his last opponents were ATG heavyweights (which isn't his fault that competition is all time low but it don't helps him ether...)

Who is that one fighter who ran about 10 miles as a regular routine during his career and his doctor advised him to stop because of how messed up his back was from all the running on hard pavement.

I cannot remember the name, boxingscene even posted an article on his retirement.

David Haye has rubbish stamina when he isn't allowed to box at his preferred pace, pot-shotting.
He was blowing ridiculously hard against Chisora after just 3 rounds and dead on his feet in the fifth and Delboy barely landed anything of note.

Hes shown poor stamina in many other fights too. How many times has he even gone 12 rounds, once? and that was at a dismal pace.

                    Doesn't ring a bell.

Who's that guy that had to retire because he didn't do roadwork and gassed after 3 rounds and was then knocked out?

                    Oh that's right.. every guy.

I wasn't saying the whole supplementation is the reason to the increase of life expectancy, I was just saying it's not as bad as some think plenty of people in the fitness business have used it and they're living up into their 70s (Larry Scott 75yo, RIP) then guys like Frank Zane who are still going quite strong.

Some muscles I think are necessary the shoulders for example depending on the type of fighter you are holding your guard up for prolonged periods can feel heavy after a while.
Then the neck even Floyd Mayweather works on that because it will likely lessen the blow a little bit when your head gets jolted back.
It just depends how physical you are as a fighter, for an inside fighter surely you'd think building the strength out would do him the world of favour hence why Mike was built like he was and it certainly seemed to help him against much bigger and heavier men.

I can see what you're saying though and I agree for the most part.
