That's not an encouraging headline for Canelo. If he isn't fighting Cotto, Pacquiao, or Golovkin on that date, he'll be on regular HBO that night for the sole purpose of driving away PPV buys from Showtime. From a badass to a pawn.

I don't have a problem with Canelo, but his ego has grown exponentially for seemingly no reason. This guy hasn't earned a damn thing in boxing. He's been handed everything. Now he thinks he can keep taking things he hasn't earned. He's in for a rude awakening. If Mayweather-Pacquiao doesn't go down, I hope Mayweather-Cotto II does. So we can all laugh at that tough guy Canelo.

Canelo if trying to take Floyd's idea and make it his own, simple as that. If they had so much significance to him, why didn't he start fighting on those dates a long time ago? Truth is, he is a spoiled little diva who wants those just because of his nationality, when he doesn't deserve them. If he wanted them that bad, he should've taken them from Floyd by beating him. Why isn't he concerned about WHERE he fight? Why not fight on MEXICAN TV? If the dates matter, those things should matter too!

Seems like he only cares about the date to be honest. I think the split purses with 60/40 should only apply if a fighter is out selling another fighter which isn't the case here. Both are relatively at the same ppv buys.

I agree! Cotto is the champion, a big draw himself and is giving canelo home field advantage and fighting on the cinco de mayo weekend!
