Cotto will go wherever the most money is imo; in this case probably Floyd.
Mayweather almost certainly sees this as his best/only chance of getting a title at 160lb.
There's a good chance this fight might happen because if Cotto-Canela gets made for "Floyd's date" in May the only Mayweather could possibly hold that date would be against Pac. And that aint gonna happen!

Even if it's Mayweather vs. Khan, it'll still happen on Cinco de Mayo. They just put Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares as the co-feature and it should sell.
      Good thinking, this^^^.

This would absolutely make it clear that Mayweather and his handlers don't have a worthy opponent that could compete against Canelo vs Cotto or even a Manny Pacquiao!

This is the only realistic money fight option for TBE on Cinco de Mayo. (Forget about Pacquiao.) Espinoza will then have confidence to lie that it did 2.5 million!

If money is not a factor, he can fight anyone he wants. All he has to do is reduce his guarantee.

These kinds of fights are getting boring to watch, the running, clinching, potshotting... I was thinking that perhaps an Alexander fight or maybe a Thurman would be more likely to produce fireworks. Why, because TBE needs to focus on boxing, not running.

If anything, Cotto is using these rumors to his advantage to get a bigger payday, doubt he goes with Mayweather over Canelo

True. However cottos gonna get paid fat either way. If he wins against mayweather he instantaneously becomes god and richer. If he wins against Canelo he just becomes richer. Which do u think hell go for. Canelo isn't going anywhere. Mayweather will retire in a year or so. Say what you will about cotto but he's not dumb.
