Al Haymon trying to get Cotto-Mayweather 2

Of course, Mexicans would support their countrymen. Like in MMA with Brazilians and Brazilian MMA fighters.Comment

If we do a poll on who true hardcore boxing fans would rather see Floyd/Cotto 2 or Canelo/GGG, its a no brainer Canelo/GGG. Now PPV numbers, thats a diff story, but I'm not inclined to think Canelo/GGG is that far behind.Comment

I'm not even worried about Canelo, his corner has the victory all sealed up for Cotto. The fact is that beating Floyd would be better for his career and legacy than beating Canelo, fact. Boxing isn't ****ed up because of that, how is it? You know damn well if there were rumblings of a Canelo rematch against Floyd that'd be better for Canelo's legacy should he win and his pocketbook. The only one scared is Oscar because he might not get Canelo the Cotto fight or May 2nd because of Floyd.
Canelo also won't fight GGG, not yet anyway. 2 fights at 155 against JMW's who have under 50 KO% rates don't get you ready for GGG.Comment

The guy I quoted basically said Mexicans would rather see a floyd Cotto rematch.Comment

Because nobody knows who GGG is yet, it's just that simple. I can't believe people are comparing a guy who draws 300k without Floyd and a guy who's never been on PPV to the drawing power of Cotto vs Floyd. Most mexicans are also smart boxing fans and they even realize that Cotto has a better shot against Floyd than Canelo does against GGG.Comment

Your boy did that number as well his last outing, lets not forget that. Floyd/Cotto 2 will not come anywhere near 1.4 buys if it were to happen again. The first time around it was a big relevant fight. There is no logical reason for a rematch, it was a one-sided fight, only you Cotto fans want to see it because theres no risk involved in fighting Floyd, where losing to him is not the worse thing. If Floyd does fight Cotto it would be just to spite Canelo for taking his "dates".Because nobody knows who GGG is yet, it's just that simple. A hypothetical Canelo/GGG ppv will do way better then Angulo or Lara 300k buys. If I had to compare it, it would probably something along the lines of a Chavez Jr/Martinez 500k buys. Possibly even more since Canelo is a bigger star then Chavez Jr was, and GGG is considered the best in his division just like Martinez was back in 2012...Comment

May have been the time of year or the amount of PPV's but obviously Cotto's last PPV wasn't anything to brag about. Sergio is/was known well enough but that PPV was less than stellar. So Canelo and Cotto are pretty much on even terms in regards to drawing power. And don't bring up other Cotto numbers. We're going by the saying "you're only as good as your last night;"-but in this case, we're going by "you're only as big as your last fight."Because nobody knows who GGG is yet, it's just that simple. Edit: guy above me beat me to it.Comment
