So does Cotto he's just as entertaining as GGG is and he actually speaks spanish and is a DRAW. I like GGG as much as the next guy but you must be on crack thinking him with Canelo get more buys than Floyd/Cotto.
Obviously Floyd/Cotto 2 would get more buys overall, but Mexicans will almost unanimously buy the Canelo ppv over the rematch. You're severely underestimating Canelo's power with the Mexican people if you think they'll rather see an unnecessary rematch simply based of the fact he has a new coach over watching their country man. The casuals will eat that up though.

    • So canelo and floyd were battling for the May date.... And now it seems COTTO just walked up and took it!!! Lol
So COTTO beats the **** outta martinez then takes the May date....all in a day's work lol.
I say it's his date because I don't see canelo facing GGG as his first official move to 160.

      WAR COTTO!!!

      • It makes me shake my head that some of you simpletons still think that HBO and SHO are both going to have a PPV on May 2nd. It's not going to happen.

Cotto/Canelo is maybe... 1 million buys, it's close and think it can reach it. But Floyd/Cotto 2 would do just as much as the first fight did at 1.5 million there's too much draw power from Floyd to match anything he offers. Besides, he could offer the same amount of money and Cotto would still take Floyd. Another loss, as long as he looks good really doesn't hurt his image, a loss to Canelo would. It's like the Sergio Martinez fight when Cotto picked him, he got less money but went for legacy, to some guys that matters just as much as the money. Canelo is young, that fight will be available for some time.
this is why boxing is so fuçked up...
boxing needs floyd-pac and canelo-cotto... time to man up...

          • Noone cares to see a Floyd Cotto rematch. The dude got beat handily the first time out. Rematches are meant for fights that were close. The Roach factor is a poor excuse to stage a rematch. If Cotto beats Canelo and thats a big IF, then the world is his oyster to decide who, what, and where he fights.

Exactly, Cotto taking the Mayweather fight is putting him in a position where he has nothing to lose. Fight Canelo and prove the ginger is a hypejob and that hes really "back".

SAN JUAN - This will not be the same with Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The economic agreement and other important aspects of trading the predicted mega fight between Puerto Rican and Mexican champion fighter of the elements were dialogued in recent days between the parties face the shock that could come to life on May 2, 2015 quite possibly in Dallas, Texas.

Mexicans last year didn't go out and buy Cannel's PPV in high numbers so we are to believe if such a match-up did take place they would be the difference.

I seem to recall that happening before. Not long ago. Martinez was fighting Chavez and Canelo I think was fighting someone. Not sure if both were pay per view but they were two major cards in same night. But I should look It up. My me memory is foggy. Anyone recall details??

I for one think that egos of some may overcome common sense and they at be foolish enough to compete on the same night.

Difference in what? I specifically stated that Floyd/Cotto would outsell a Canelo ppv. Given the option Mexicans would choose to watch their country man over a pointless rematch is what I said.
