I'd allude more to the notion that Hopkins has never been stopped, by anyone.

Kovalev has already shown weakness, you don't have to wait for that but I don't buy into the notion that Kovalev's knockouts will dry up. A Ward fight has a chance at going the distance due to his style but that's no certainty.

He also seems above average on speed, skills, adaptability, and brain, plus beastly power and ? chin.

KOvalev walks through Calzaghe's slaps and brutalises him. If a post-prime B-Hop and shot-to-**** RJJ could drop Joe, a prime, big punching fighter would have no problem

What offer did he actually turn down? Misleading at best. And do you actually think Pavlik could beat Calzaghe? ... Froch is twice the fighter of Pavlik and Carl would be a serious underdog vs Calzaghe.

did you see all the links i posted? some people are never satisifed even if you shove the evidence in their face. calzaghe's promoter and arum negotiated the fight, calzaghe turned it down. everyone involved says so. even calzaghe. there's also an interview with calzaghe where he says pavlik blew his chance because calzaghe wanted to fight pavlik in 2006? that was years before pavlik even became champ. these are clearly the words of a ducker and a coward. i'm just sad that he retired so early. we would have gotten some classic gems out of him. remember you are defending the guy who said he couldn't fight any big fights because he was scared of flying then got busted flying to go on vacation.

I really feel it's too early in Kovalev's career to really give an accurate prediction on this one, I would only trust someone like Manny Steward if he was still around to predict this one as he had a tremendous eye for styles.

Now saying that I will tell you that A level fighters don't fold like Cleverly,etc. and there is no chance Calzaghe gets steam rolled by someone like Kovalev, a prime Roy Jones...maybe? But Kovalev...not a chance in my opinion, hit, hurt, absolutely but when you get to that level knockouts tend to dry up for a lot of these punchers. Now Kovalev is far more than that, but the first example of him stepping into proper elite level against Hopkins and already the first time he goes 12 rounds. People will elude to Hopkins defence, etc. but make no mistake, Hopkins is well past his best. I think Kovalev would have tremendous problems hitting a prime Calzaghe clean, it's a complicated fight for both guys, my prediction is Calzaghe UD. This is based on me foreseeing that Kovalev will eventually start to show his weaknesses at this higher level and in the end the old adage will be true in this fantasy match up, the guy with the speed, skills, adaptability, and brain will 9 times out of 10 win the day.

are you mental? no one ever had problems landing on calzaghe especially right hands so why would kovalev? it's not hard hitting a guy who rushes in completely square. kovalev showed he was a much smarter fighter than calzaghe against hopkins. he didn't just rush in and get countered over and over like calzaghe. he picked his spots waited for hopkins and then countered hopkins. calzaghe was like the little electric football game where the players all spazz out and vibrate around the field. kovalev has a lil more class and purpose behind his work and it shows.

no one knew who the fu-kk he was until he fought lacy. he literally was on the same level that omar narvaez is on now. no one took him seriously because he was wasting his time while fighting in ice rinks. lacy was a terrible fighter but he had some hype so warren convinced calzaghe to fight lacy even though calzaghe was scared out of his mind and wanted to pull out. the fight turned out easy and actually gave calzaghe some confidence to take on kessler who was good but not great. then he went too far and hopkins smashed his self esteem back to pre-2006 levels and he quickly faded away into bolivian. an ok fighter but mostly a fraud for all the bad opponents, unwillingness to fight anyone relevant(ducked many fighters like glen johnson, pavlik), lameass excuses(scared of flying?) and questionable stoppages.

Styles make fights. Calzaghe's workrate & iron jaw would be too much for Kov imo.

Iron jaw he got dropped by a single shot from Hopkins.

His work rate would get him knocked out.

He never fought any body he hit anywhere near as hard as Kovalev.
